  • 2:16 Tetsuo!

  • Thanks again for the all the support!

  • While not being too wordy or exciting, this film is very picturesque, the scenery and attention to detail outshine what it's lacking. It is not only inspirational to artists but very soothing. It is not meant to make sense and I think that is what is appealing, that someone has created a fantasy world that doesn't exist but has given it a purpose. It's more of a question of; 'what if'. It's definitely not my favourite anime, but it is worth watching :)

  • The guy remind me a lot Bartz Klauser!

  • The score is beautiful...Angel's Egg makes me think that Mamoru Oshii is more of an artist than a filmmaker.

  • It took me 20 seconds to realize what she was doing at 0:40

  • I've watched other anime movies, and the voice for the girl seems perfectly fine. It sounds childlike and it's not squeaky like current shows.

  • I am REALLY confused but it's so entrancing I can't stop watching!

  • Does anyone know what the meaning of this movie is? Some people think its about the girl becoming a woman or something like that,

  • It's weird...I feel like I can understand the movie but at the same time, I don't understand it at all.

  • i like the face she makes after he said you have to break an egg to see what's inside of it

  • "Keep precious things inside you or you will lose them" Woah! that kicked me into the head

  • persons speculating as to the meaning of this film might be interested to know that Mamrou Oshii was apparently raised a devout Roman Catholic, (a tiny minority in Japan, something like well under five percent of the population) and even once had ambitions to join the priesthood. Somewhere along the line, he abandoned Catholicism and became an atheist....it is possible that this is where the inspiration for the pervasive religious imagery comes from. But who really knows?

  • one of the most unique animated movies ever, it's definitely different but it has a dark quality that I really like

  • this is true anime! not that false moe shit we have today

  • @AlthenasGuard

cookie-cutter shows with retarded comedy and whiny girl. Stupid perv or ego-listic crap.

  • the last part of this video..

the 2 laterns, one has light=girl, the other one is lightness and broken=man.

  • big egg=big omelet

    x'D

    this is awesome!!!!

  • Her hair is so... Flowy =3

  • Hay una pelicula con ese anime y en parte con actores humanos...en un contexto de postguerra y contaminacion. me gustaria volver a verla pero no la encuentro por internet

  • the music reminds me of the stuff offa bambi kinda...............

  • yup. Me too.

  • The only two symbols I`ve been able to recognize:

The girl is the representation of life, that`s why she is so fascinated by water, why she carries an egg around and why she hides in a post war scenario. The guy, what I understand is the representation of Death, that`s why he is so close to God (the thing with angels carved on it) and why he follows the girl.

At least that is what I think, of course I can always be wrong.

    Thanks for the movie.

  • Excellent analysis i think. Have you seen his weapon has a shape of a cross, sympole of death aswell

  • @Glacierian

gender roles of protector of new life woman =intuitive

destroyer of life to feed life man=rational

  • if you cant get what this movie represent and why is it good... then you don't know anything about movies or art... and you suck

  • Hey, I don't get it either but there's no need to be rude about it! D:

(no, I know that you replied to yalwa, but still...)

  • Or it makes you an arrogant jerk. Furthermore, it makes you stupid. For all you know, your own idea of what the movie means could be completely wrong. Only the artist them self knows the true meaning of the movie, if it really has one at all (and not all artists make their art to have a meaning outside of making those who see it happy or satisfied in some way). Myself being an artist I must say "shame on you" for saying such things.

  • is this the same animator that did Berserk series? I keep seeing all the shadows colours and even building drawings from Berserk

  • I keep thinking for some reason that this is about purity. She's protecting an egg, fascinated by water (or the bubbles in it), which is rather a childish fixation.

The whole idea that she's protecting an egg seems overtly sexual to me, for some reason....

    And then that man shows up, follows her around... maybe it's about a girl and her virginity. O_O;;

Gosh, this movie is sooo twisted.

  • @FupidFisher I do not share your opinion on this one,the angel(the little girl)behave herself clearly like a mother, protecting her offspring.though I agree that she represent purity and I would add Innocence.

  • what the freak is going on? Is there a plot to this?

  • i've been watchin this movie for almost 9 months now and i still dont get it lol but its fun 2 watch and try to figure it out

  • Kinda, sorta. Plot is neglected in favor of lots of symbolism. I think it worked well.

  • i dont get it yet lol

  • Ya can't make an omelet without breakin' a few eggs.

  • Stranger danger...

  • ya the part at 2:48 had me thinking for a while lol

  • That man is creepy! O.O

  • i dont get whats going on D: @_@'' any1 wana clear things up...? :D....-not following the story- o.o

  • its really all symbolic for the individual user to come up with their own interpretation of the movie.

  • watership down is a messed up film, rabbits gone nuts! + felidae is pretty fucked up...

  • Great book, okay movie. Felidae is pretty wrong, I'd agree. You should see The Plague Dogs.

  • Ahaha, very true. xD

When The Wind Blows is a very depressing one.

  • It almost seems like the water sings in this movie

  • ita like shes making ti sing..

  • "Yoshihiro Kanno" really good music

  • (2:48)I really can't help thinking that that scene is one of the reasons why this movie was never released in America.

  • possibly..makes sence

  • Doubtful, more explicit has been edited out of pokemon for it to air :p

  • come on..

she is just hiding the egg.. she is not showing anything...

  • well it is pretty dark i'm sure he probally wouldn't of been able to see in there anyways

  • anime was 100x better in the 80s

  • amen.

  • damn, i have to say, i'd rate the music a 130192481375823758120519 to the 1437582375892 power/5

but i dont really like the voice actor for the girl...

  • ya the girl is kinda annoyin

  • they aren't many lines so it doesn't matter as much

  • @starkmad Ya, the voice they chose for the girl doesn't really seem to fit her very well. Tho I really like the voice they chose for the man.

  • @starkmad I like the voice actor. It fits perfectly Dx

  • awesome

  • so cool...thanks so much! More people should see this movie it's so good! :)

  • I love this movie, it's so beautiful and elegant, thansk so much for sharing it.

  • I found it by wrong but it has be keened on it already!

  • chingon!
