Very cool. I was lucky enough to be mentored by Jerome Hines, and Stefan Minde, as well as studying with Franco Iglesias. Also master classes with Carlo Bergonzi and Paul Plishka, The old schoolers are the best!
To sing high one has to learn to go into head tone. So listen to good singers that do just that, and practice every day without forcing the voice or closing the throat.
@jussi2100 A question from an amateur. My voice is baryton. What is the high tone/pitch that I must (= if I can make it) try to sing (= if I compare with a tenor's high C)?
@petereuropa Normally the baritone singer is a minor third lower then the tenor. Which would mean high a. However a good a flat is usually enough, in order to sing the baritone repertoire.
Cool. Well I am a senior in high school and my voice may very well change as I grow. Any pointers along the way though? I know to open almost as much as I can and use the diaphragm to throw air out of my mouth.
@lancer2589 You will figure it out if you keep studying. Don't think about covering yet though, you are very young as a singer. The male voice doesn't fully mature until around age 30. Once you figure out how to support well and learn how to get a consistent resonance in your range below high A, you will just naturally begin to figure out what is meant by covering. Remember TENSION AND STRAIN in the face and throat are you're WORST enemies. Keep studying and asking questions! You'll get there!
@lancer2589 One has to have a vocal instrument that has the natural capacity plus the proper technique, so that the voice won’t be damaged. It can take time to learn to do it the right way, but it is in my opinion more a matter of understanding and vocal intelligence then anything else.
