@rifall i completely agree. the ipad is really about the apps and there are hundreds to choose from. There are apps for health professionals and students, which is helpful for and my field of interest. This device is just the start of something new in technology and I want it now. Actually, I'm getting one in a few days 11/19/10.
I've held it a couple times and played around with it and found that it was very similar to my ipod touch. No problem there because I absolutely LOVE my ipod touch and practically use it 24/7. I definitely am going to purchase the Ipad just because it IS a bigger ipod touch and can enhance the experience by like 10x! i finally got to mess with an ipad and i thought it was amazing! but, i dont think it was worth the money... i dont see a need for it when im at home and i dont have good ATT service where i live. yes it was an amazing device but it doesnt fit what i need. a smart phone from verizon works just as well so thats what i got.

Should I get a real cheap Netbook with Windows 7 starter or should I get an iPad? I have a unibody whtie MacBook and an iPod Touch 2nd generation and a PC with the Windows 7 Enterprise 90 day trial, and they're all awesome.
@A135S4656 if you already have a macbook go for the ipad otherwise id definitely say netbook as its far more productive for taking notes, browsing the web etc. but if you already have a 13" macbook, a netbook wont give you that much more portability so possibly the ipad would be better in your scenario.

video calls may be a good point, but as the ipad can't make calls so the camera gets unnecessary for this point as well. i think the phone will still be the device to do this, so why does the ipad need this?
i don't think it's that bad that the ipad doens't have a camera. I don't think you would run around with your ipad somewhere and then view something great and then say: "woah! I need a photo of this!" 1st, the ipad is way to large to carry around normally, 2nd why does it need a camera? pretty much all phones have cameras (so does the iphone), so i don't think there's a need, because you most likely will have your phone with you rather than your ipad.

I don't think it is a "Kindle killer" but I think I really want one for the apps, video, web ect. NOT for reading on. I love my Kindle 1st Gen for reading. I would rather read on the e-ink screen but I am still very interested in iPad. Some of the things it is missing is surprising. I agree on the camera bit. With it having the ability to display photos so large and beautifully the camera would make sense.

Should I get a real cheap Netbook with Windows 7 starter or should I get an iPad? I have a unibody whtie MacBook and an iPod Touch 2nd generation and a PC with the Windows 7 Enterprise 90 day trial, and they're all awesome.

@A135S4656 if you already have a macbook go for the ipad otherwise id definitely say netbook as its far more productive for taking notes, browsing the web etc. but if you already have a 13" macbook, a netbook wont give you that much more portability so possibly the ipad would be better in your scenario.

@A135S4656 if you already have a main laptop id get the ipad if you can afford to throw around money just for fun....windows 7 is amazing... but doesnt make any sense to have two laptops. If you didnt have a laptop already a windows 7 netbook would be way better than ipad.

video calls may be a good point, but as the ipad can't make calls so the camera gets unnecessary for this point as well. i think the phone will still be the device to do this, so why does the ipad need this?

i don't think it's that bad that the ipad doens't have a camera. I don't think you would run around with your ipad somewhere and then view something great and then say: "woah! I need a photo of this!" 1st, the ipad is way to large to carry around normally, 2nd why does it need a camera? pretty much all phones have cameras (so does the iphone), so i don't think there's a need, because you most likely will have your phone with you rather than your ipad.

i like free stuff to much I'll stay with my PC laptop i have never payed for a movie or an mp3 and i never will the i pad dose not support flash so you have to get it from i-tunes and if i wanted to carry some thing that big around i would just use my PC at least it closes to protect the screen how are you supposed to carry it around with out breaking it or scratching the screen

Overpriced iPod touch with serious limitations. No more than 5 computer accounts for itunes, no flash, no multitasking, no usb, no hdmi, about useless. You can get more for your money with a netbook or a tablet PC. HP touchsmart tm2 is the way to go.

I don't think it is a "Kindle killer" but I think I really want one for the apps, video, web ect. NOT for reading on. I love my Kindle 1st Gen for reading. I would rather read on the e-ink screen but I am still very interested in iPad. Some of the things it is missing is surprising. I agree on the camera bit. With it having the ability to display photos so large and beautifully the camera would make sense.

How long will the battery last? Until the warranty runs out? Drop it once. Or spill something on it. It doesn't have a camera, and it has a LOT of limitations. Basically it's an oversized iPOD.

FYI- The new multitasking version that is coming out will have have advertisements that run q3min. Who wants to have advertisements running every 3 minutes on each open application? I can't wait for the keyboard and camera versions to come out. Then, after you assemble all of the pieces, you can have a $800+ 1ghz netbook.
