just for those who don't know. there is nothing wrong with the engines. black smoke in a diesel means too much fuel in the cylinders. the reason fuel is dumped into it is to keep the cylinders and pistons from melting, as the temperature can get in excess of 1300 degrees inside the cylinders.

i own all gas vehicals but do love diesels and there are a few very fast ones around here that are top contenders in the street racing world.i was thinkin since the cummin is such a great motor that gm,ford and dodge should all offer it in there 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.you should have the option of the dmax or cummins in a gm or a powerstroke or cummins in a ford. ford puts it in there f550 trucks so why not?

Because a incredible amount of fuel is injected into the cylinders and not all of it is burned by the time the exhaust cycle comes around. All of that smoke is simply unburnt Diesel.
