there are more teams called fc in the mls than there were rough riders in the cfl.and since we call it soccer and not football, shouldn't it be sc?but then again, when was the last time somebody,ANYBODY,in toronto had an original thought in their head?
yeah... total waist of money plus if they want to get into the MLS, they'll need to build a bigger stadium or modify the one they just built... But ! ... the Olympic stadium is way too big for IMPACT, it would look silly having a 20 000 attendance (excelent for Impact) at a 70 000 (or so) stadium
@Herb615 If Impact would play in the Olympic Stadium, not only the experience for the fans would not be that great (20 000 fans in a 60 000 seats stadium sounds empty), but the club would have to pay the city for the use of the stadium, so less income for the club. It is much more advantageous for the club to play in its own stadium.
@Herb615 there's a big difference in hype between a champion's league knockout stage game, our first in club history and a regular season game. We can fill up 60 000 for such a big fixture but we would certainly not keep that up on a regular basis.
Thanks!! You know I really believe that even though I'm an America I think Canada and the U.S. should share the World Cup like Korea & Japan did in 2002.
It would be great because soccer is really growing in North America and it's becoming an economic boom for many of these North American cities. You have great stadiums in Canada like Olympic stadium, BC Palace, Rogers Centre, Ottawa's proposed new soccer stadium & Edmonton's soccer stadium. And in the U.S. you can have matches played at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, Houston stadium, Seattle, Philadelphia, Washington DC & Pasadena's Rose Bowl stadium & Investo Field Denver.
@afannell It would be great but unfortunately, as nice as it looked on tv, the logistics of it in practise are apparently something that FIFA is not too eager to go through again.
@vancanman2 Even if they built some awesome stadiums, the atmosphere just would'nt be the same, the lack of passion for football would ruin it... just like it happened in Korea-Japan, their stadiums are still among the best ones in the world nowadays but it was a very boring W.C. we still have to wait many years before having a decent W.C. in USA or Canada
@masterchivas First, how many MLS matches have you been to? Second, how many J League matches have you been to? If you want to see atmosphere, try Urawa Reds on YouTube.
Of course the atmosphere is much better on average in most parts of Western Europe, but you shouldn't just generalise so much.
@vancanman2 well I went to some Impact matches in MTL when I lived there and now that I'm in Mexico I've attended a couple of MLS matches in L.A. and Dallas... People du support their teams, but it'sa very weird atmosphere, doesn't feel like football and it gets kinda boring and strange... that's why I think a W.C. in USA or Canada shouldnt get done untill 2030 or so... once the MLS gets the same passion the NBA gets (at least), then we could have a cool WC... not now or in the near future
@masterchivas First, the NBA doesn't have atmosphere. Secondly, Montréal isn't in MLS. Thirdly, it's not up to the locals to produce the atmosphere in the World Cup. If a World Cup match in France, for example, were played between the USA and Korea, the French wouldn't be providing the atmosphere, it would be up to the supporters of the teams who are playing. Once again, even though I don't like Urawa Reds, being a Grampus supporter, try that for atmosphere on YouTube.
@vancanman2 1 MLS has less atmosphere than NBA. 2 MTL will go 2 the MLS in 2012 & they'll have the same crowd as they do now in a better stadium 3 You can't fill a stadium only with fans from other countries, even harder in the USA with 90k stadiums and the 2002 W.C. is well known for being one of the most boring ones with a lame football spirit. but anyway we're not talking about japan. USA/CAN aren't ready to host a great W.C. yet... and foreseeing ur next reply, I answer 2 u: yeah whateverFU
@masterchivas You are fucking stupid. The US hosted the 1994 World cup and it was the highest grossing and attended world cup in all of history. Also, Mls has less atmosphere than Nba? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHHHAAHAHHHAHAH Get fucking real. Stupid people are stupid.
@masterchivas You just contradicted yourself. You know something? Some people are just too stupid to debate with. You can't even answer direct questions, so I'll ignore you and let you try arguing with someone else.

I think they could sell out 60,000 seats. They did it last time when they played Santos so what's the difference!
