I still have the 2 volume hardback editions of: "The Chronicles Of Amber", from the late 70's, when I was a teen. It's great to see people still enjoying the series.
Anyone with the guts to adapt this wonderful Saga on a film-course budget has proved themselves braver than huge production studios. You know that SciFi (SyFy now?) said they had a mini-series in the works, and then suddenly nothing more was heard? Major props for this effort - it's a good adaptation. I probably would have tried to copy the books almost word for word, which... I'd rather you imagined the results, had I tried. Great job, keep me informed about what you do next.
@PerformanceLoverC Thank you Performance for your kind words about our video. Appreciate it, and I would love to see something like this adapted on television or film. If I thought we would have a chance of assisting with that, I'd be delighted lol.
@PerformanceLoverC I am a big big fan of Roger zelanzy and I have been looking out for a movie or video game on this for sooo long. Anyway, I just created a Chronicles of Amber wiki called Amberpedia. So far I havent met anyone who has read the books. I'm not very goot a wikis but I could use all the editors that are interested. If your interested in helping edit check out
hey guys, be sure to check out our film, Sons of Amber, more information in the sidebox or search "Sons of Amber" as we just completed it and premiered last night! Thanks! Also, check out the website to see production photos, etc.
Sorry, don't think the mandelbrot is fitting. I'd rather see the Pattern (full size) devised first and then projected very faintly over the person. In that situation, small changes in hue and detail begin to work the screen corners. When this slight chaos touches the person's sihouette the shifting of the pluriverses can begin.
I like the music, though. I look forward to see an Amber film serie.
Perhaps that's something we can think about trying for the episode we're making of it - especially since we did the pattern from the book already in Illustrator. If we had more time than a weekend, the things we would have liked to do HEHE, but thank you nonetheless for your suggestion :D Glad you liked it!
Morphing a background. That's what I should have called it. So easily done nowadays and so close to the visualization of 'walking in shadows'. Most video editing programs can do something like that: Coloring blue skies to red, to brown, adding mountains, cartoonish shapes..
Only a weekend? If someone is going to produce films of the Amber sequence he shall have more than a weekend, I hope?
LOL I'm a She actually. ;D We only had the weekend allotted to do this particular project for the class...so that time has nothing to do with the filming of the series...lol!
Obviously, we're a low budget student film crew of 2. One can hope someone will see the potential, and then fund a real production of it since sci-fi/fantasy genres are dependent upon really great effects to make it believable.
We've settled on trying another way to show them shadow walking. We shall see what happens!
I'll try to put link, you'll have to conjoin it for complete url. therpgsite. com /showthread. php? t=8349 & page=3
If you're an Amber fan, and especially a ADRPG fan, come join us for all things Amber related there. Referred by Gabriel, I'll give them a link to this page too, OK DesolationAngell?
Cool, Good work. I'm also a Huge Amber fan! I've read the series 8 or so times and have been playing the DRPG (Diceless Role-Palying Game) for about 15 years. Here's a link to a post in the Amber Forum which has a link to the Chartres Labyrinth set in the floor of a church in France which is most likely the design and idea Zelazny got for the Pattern of Amber.
interesting that you used the mandelbrot set. i was wondering if you did it because the theory behind it in many ways reflects zelazny's idea of the pattern and shadows, or was it random?
i thought that me making that connection was just my wierd mind going off again.
hehe Actually I did use it because the pattern seemed fitting, but as far as your theory goes, I can't say I know for sure about that. I'd like to think to hear more about it you sparked my curiosity. Nice observation! :)
BTW, one of my facebook accounts is Corwin Ofamber. (Primarily to play Castle Age.)
