Ha, I'm a snobby coffee nerd like this too. I definitely rely on my French Press, Burr Grinder, freshly roasted beans (roasted to order at a local gourmet shop), and clean water. I do get by with my Brita filter just as well as I do with bottled water though. It's absolutely true though that a French Press is the best home brewing method. I have used the same exact beans using a manual drip cone, and it just doesn't compare to the well-rounded balance of french-pressed coffee.
