@StavrosIII Actually, this particular routine was when M&W left BBC and went over to Thames Television. This came from one of their Christmas specials :) I haven't watched many of their ITV series (as of yet), I have purchased almost all of their BBC series and I really enjoy anything they do XD

Morecambe and Wise were as funny as a cat trapped in a house fire...The Syd Lawrence Orchestra are a world-class big band. Why spoil the musicianship with these moronic music hall rejects?
Andy Smith, Chris Dean, Ray Wordsworth and Bernie Bean on bass trombone. I have it on good authority that Roger Rae was never in the section when Chris Dean was in it.
It was the M&W show. Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Previn got into the swing of it, so did the SLO thank goodness. No po-faced muscianship - good for them.
These two just had a ball when they performed, you can see it in their faces, truly great stuff.

@tapdance86 I wondered if this was from their ITV days. I thought they were funnier then, before they switched sides to BBC.

I think you're wrong--good sense of humor here, and the orchestra sounds just great. Leave it at that.

Is that a young Chris Dean on lead trombone? Andy Wadsworth, Ray Wordsworth and Roger Rae on Bass?

And that's too tall and too hairy for the Laird...
Good to see the Scrange in his heyday too.

Couldn't we have heard the world-class musicianship without the childish 'comedy' of M and W?
