Why would anyone buy a hybrid in a X5? That makes no sense since you get much lower fuel consumption with Diesel...this is only good for Hollywood "Stars" who think that they're so "eco" if they drive a hybrid...even though it still uses 15L/100 km. IMO they should bring more Diesels to the US, but in the USA gas prices are so cheap anyway when compared to Europe so why do people there even buy hybrids? I dont get it...only to look "eco"!
the reason they shund Hybrids is they lack the technology to make such cars. They can only start making them because of the multiple examples released from companies like Toyota and Honda.
bullshit. hybrids arent techinologically hard to manufacture. hybrid is currently a niche market, and quite expensive. also there are hidden issues such as the need for battery replacement every few years (and batteries are harmful for the environment)
and those people who can afford a bmw or audi just dont care about getting few more miles per gallon. (you dont see lexus hybrids either) all and all, bmw target customers dont want hybrid period. that's why they're not making it
one more thing, europeans have access to diesel. in the us, diesel is thought as gasoline's evil brother. (even though diesel is cleaner and gets more milage with less co2 emission) hence the hybrid is the only gasoline burning option that the japanese manufacturers who wanted to succeed in america
Yeah but unlike BMW hybrids, Toyota and Honda hybrids CAN'T make 480 HP. BMW has already produce the 7 Active Hybrid and X6 Active Hybrid with 455 HP and 480 HP respectively. Besides, the BMW Vision ED can do 0-60 in 4.5 and exceed 180 MPH (delimited) with a diesel hybrid engine that gives 62 MPG.
i would totally buy a hybrid if i could afford it. seems like toyota is really on top of the game with their green efficiency messages... youtube[dot]com/watch?v=bknyIKeGpHA
