I'll just offer some light relief as I find myself awfully tense after a while on psychetruth (which is brilliant). My mum is a kind caring g.p. in the u.k. with many patients and allthough there is drive to comit/medicate people out there, I'm sure that's not her drive,(the population is too diverse for that to make any sence at her practice). In fact I personally have been detained and medicated but I never contemplated that I was detained, if I had known I might have gone crazy, gulp.

These tiresome old ideas are pretty pathetic. We are way past this. We need to focus on the specific strengths and weaknesses (including violations of rights) where they are occuring. For example, in the U.S. I know we need to elect representatives who will give the teeth back to regulatory agencies. Sounds very much like what the Children's Aid Society in Canada and Child Protection services in the States are doing.
