the desmo is actually a V4 not a V-twin Engine, it is a Liquid-cooled, 90-degree, V4 4-stroke with 16-valve, Desmodromic DOHC hence why they scream at high rpm lol :)
It goes from a V8 sounding Roar to kinda like a motocross dirth bike on steroids once you get in it. Now if Ducati's and other twins kept that deep sound at low RPM's then they would have the most beastly and best sound of anybike. BUT The Inline 4's have a scream that cannot go unoticed, and sounds like a Banshee screaming while riding a rocket. Simply put inlines even sound fast, while twins not so much. But don't get me wrong Twins sound very good at low RPM's.
exactly :D again everyone has there opinions on things and yours are on your gixxer, mine and others on here are towards twins and the desmo before an inline four!!!!
Although nice I find that after a short while the sound becomes monotone and starts to wind me up! I find the screem from an inline 4 with a good pipe sound's much more exciting. And gets the blood flowing.

A inline four has never given me goosebumps. But the V four from ducati has.

i prefer whatever puts out 200bhp at the crank even if it's a wankel rotary engine on a bike. this is the reason why motogp use the v4.
i like the sound of v-twins like a rapid drum beat, like two drums, classic design too.
