The SNES version of this game is WAY BETTER..and looks to be WAYY HARDER...back in my day I could slap this game's forehead on arcade difficulty...just tap the "A" button on the option screen alot of times and away you go!!!
@joethebro3031 There's no SNES version, unless you were thinking of Gradius III. The only other version besides Arcade, and TurboGrafx16 (PC Engine), is NES.
There was supposed to be another stage after the Moai stage before the High Speed stage. Its the one where statute lions charge at you and pillars falling on you as you get near them. It showed it on the Wii version.
@Seahawk0027 Heh yeah =w=; I found 5's speed stage easier than 4's and the 3rd game's speed segment wasnt too bad. But why the spinny and flippy things Konami D:
Gradius V's is very easy. Not hard at all. I think it scrolls just slower enough than the rest to give you enough time to react. But Beacon at the end of it is a nightmare =(.
Gradius III's '3D' high speed is pretty much a bonus stage in my opinion. However, if you make it to the speed segment at the end of that game, you are likely really stressed out from playing the game.
Gradius IV's speed stage is ultra hard and fast, but you just need to find and memorize a good route, and you'll be ok.
I know, but attaching "Mk-number" to all of the bosses would start to cheapen the boss a little, if we did that for all the bosses in Gradius V we would be on Big Core Mk-III Mk-III, and Death Mk-IV, and Tetran Mk-IV. So, I'm going to stick with the non numbered names, except for Big Core of course.
They ARE pretty simliar, aren't they? Except without the spinning, the top Moai is pretty much impossible to destroy, at least you only have to beat two of them in Gradius II =).
Is Hulk Hogan doing the boss voice-overs in this game?!

Uh wait a minute didn't you missed a stage?

That is a stage exclusive to the PC Engine CD-ROM version of Gradius II, which is the version on the Wii Virtual Console.

Ahh I always loved the high speed stages

They're fun, as long as you don't die, then they become frustrating. Just wait until you see the one from Gradius IV....

Levels 4, 5, and 6's names are A Way Out of the Difficulty, The Old Stone Age, and Maximum Speed.
QwertyGuy499 2 years ago
Those are the names of the songs, already seen in the video, except that in the video "Maximum Velocity" should be "Maximum Speed".
I only use one or two word descriptors for level names.
Plus these were my first videos so I didn't think of putting stage names back then =P.

It's not THE Death from the original Salamander/Life Force. This one is Death Mk-II.

@Seahawk0027 Well Death mk-2 is mostly known on Gradius the original Death is nothing like mk-2.
Tetran mk-2 is in Salamander 2 only.
