I sent a used oil analysis of the NEW 86 Ford LTD to be tested. They found antifreeze,high ppm of alum,bronze,iron. Tthe engine was self destructing at 6k. I discussed it with my Ford dealer & they weren't interested other than watch the problem. It lasted through warranty to 60k before dying. 12k warranty. HUMMM

I buy what doesn't give problems.

If the car gives problems that are outside of maintenance I do not buy again.

I have NOT bought a problem Toyota!

I DID buy a new better 86 Ford LTD 3.8 and at 60k  blow bye was so bad it leaked oil past intake man. gask. ect. Lady driven too!! Yes changed oil every 2000. I took it down and motor was worn out. I have a '92 Lexus LS400 with 385,000k on it & literally not 1 break down in 18 years! All I have done with the car is the obvious - oil changes, brakes, battery, timing belt once, alternator once, (which should have both been done more than once) etc. That car is absolutley amazing & is the true testament to Toyota's superior relability. If there is any drop in Toyota's quality/reliability, it is because they are now made in America. And say what you want, quality drop or not they are currently good enough to still be #1 in reliability. Lexus #1 in reliabilty for Luxury brands as well. you mis-read your information ..and the ford f series is the best selling truck...you are combining chevy and GMC truck sales together ...GM sells these trucks as 2 completely different trucks .you cant buy a GMC at a chevy dealership and vise versa ..and technically ..chevy never made their oun trucks..back in the day GM just took a GMC truck and watered it down and hung chevrolet on it , but if you want to look at it that way its fine becuase they are all american made and not a toyota

Just pointing that out because a while back somebody was hating on toyotas but liked Scion... so by liking Scion he was also liking Toyota

Car companies do that because their current name like toyota didnt fit the scion cars style, same with lexus style cars didnt fit the style toyota name is known for.

Well, I like Lexus because they are built well (like Toyota is) but not bland and ugly styling like Toyota.

I think Toyota still makes good cars. But these recalls prove that they aren't gods incaptial of error, and that Ford can make cars just as good if not better.

Toyota makes well built cars, and to be fair the Tundra is a good truck for the typical dumbass Tundra owner that carries one of two loads a year in his bed.

Toyota's cost more to maintain BTW because when they go wrong, they go WRONG, and a similar problem on a Ford say costs typically a lot more to repair.

Future more, though this is starting to change, Toyotas are a LOT more complicated. Which just means more things to go wrong. COSTLY things as well.
