@aysat No you can only use the impulse inside your recording software. You don't have to record, you could just arm a track for recording and monitor the signal.
@thevisi0naryy Use lots of room mics, with them muted the track is dry and flat sounding. The room mics are very important for 'vibe' and creating that sense of movement, making the track breathe.
Then there's the bass, rather than going for note clarity I eq'd most of the mids out so it's mostly just low end humming throughout the track, like a continuous drone. This again gives s a smooth movement feel.
If you get the bass and drums down dealing with guitars becomes a lot easier.
@fearcomplexmusic okay that makes sense, do you do multiple guitar layers? Do you using any typing of mixing effects on guitars or just standard mixing?
@thevisi0naryy Yeah I usually do 4 guitar tracks. 2 hard panned at 100% L&R and another 2 around 80% L&R. For effects, aside from EQ I'll sometimes use PSP Mixsaturator. I have a video on my channel showing how I use that.
@ChrisLovesDRUMS It's a Redwire impulse. They're not free. On my channel I have another clip of the same track and Amplitube settings, but with free "guitarhack" impulses.
Just a quick question, how do you save the preset to an outside folder, I made a sound I liked and it only saves it to the Program files/IK/Amplitube/presets. However the custom folder is only visible within amplitube... I just want to save the preset on my external so if my computer craps out I will have it saved. HELP PLEASE
@TonyTwoToes6669 You can't access the folder that amplitube saves the preset? All mine are available in user/mydocuments/ikmultimedia/amplitube3/presets
@fearcomplexmusic I figured out why. But for some reason they were in a temp folder and didn't show it whatsoever. After I found that out was able to just save them out on my external and all that!
What audio interface are you using? My amplitube lags like shit, or sounds like shit, i plugged my guitar straight to stock computer's soundcard. I do not know which interface i should get...
@pahaahv Try downloading the Asio4all drivers and try using those. Or buy a low-latency soundcard. The Audiophile 24/96 is a reasonably cheap card and will run at 6ms - which is as "laggy" as you would ever want it!
Make sure that you aren't using Multimedia or Direct-X drivers for your card.
Pre-amping the guitar signal before the soundcard will help S/N ratio. I use a Focusrite compressor to bring the signal to line-level.
Hi, i downloaded and installed your amplitube preset, but all i had is a creepy mosquito-like tone. Now, i certainly didn't expect to have your same tone, but i assure you your preset sounds really unusable. I make some mistakes?
Hello when i try to open this preset with amplitube it says that the preset doesn't fill with the amplitube 3 parameters... so i cannot load this preset properly... what should i do?
@fodassenaosei Hey right click the link and save as. It will download mesa2.at3p --- Put that file in your amplitube 3 presets folder. You can then load it like any other preset within Amplitube. Do a windows search for amplitube if you can't find the folder. Mine is in my documents.
Great sound! By the way, i LOVE the toms in this track. I use metal foundry and the slate stuff also. But how the hell did you get such great greasy toms? Any tip? A preset you might share? ; )
@vickiboi Thanks for the comment! The toms are from the 'metal' preset in metal foundry. No further processing was done to them. If there's space in your mix they'll pop out.
@fearcomplexmusic (or anyone else for the matter) how do you go about tweaking the sound? I'd like to record the "clean guitar", then run amplitube online, "from the mixing software", if you know what I mean, so I can keep modifying settings while hearing the complete mix. I can't do this with audacity - I have to record a clean track, apply the "amplitube effect", then undo, tweak settings, re-apply the amplitube effect, etc, it's just sooo painfully slow. Is there any free software to do this?
how do you make this sound so good ? I dont know but I tried to use it through toneport, the sound is muddy completely not selective and in general it sounds like shit? Maybe I miss something ?
It would be awsome if you posted a vid where you show us how you prosses the guitarsound.. have tryed getting the same sound ass you, using amplitube 3 and guitarhacks inpulses.. but my sound is not even close!! Please make a vid and show us how you do it!! :)
Which mesa cab impulses did you use? i got the Redwire bigbox impulse pack, and there's a ton of different microphones and frequencies to choose from.
hey i'm commenting for the ones who can not have a powerful gain. you should use a booster before u send ur guitar signal to the interface. follow my instruction. guitar ->a booster(it should keep the clean sound u can use a equalizer or a compressor or a processor pedal like pod in bypass mode.)->sound interface.. this is gear setup.
now open Amplitube and use this preset.
check the input and out put level.
the more u increase input level the more gain u will have.
@morfoo but before start just check ur dry sound turning ur mix button on ur sound interface. there should not be a dirty sound. if there is, just decrease the volume on ur pedal. this is it.
@GrowlingVocals think the most important thing to work on is the bass and drums. The other elements in the mix can change the guitar tone drastically. I've learned there's not much point in spending forever working on guitars in solo.. Better to settle on a decent tone and spend your time making it work in the mix. The end result will be better and that's all that matters. An amplitube guitar tone in a decent mix will beat a real mesa track thrown into a congested muddy mix every time!
@fearcomplexmusic Do you create the drum tracks from scratch, or do you use premade loops? Also, if you do create them, do you do so after or before you make the guitar part?
@fearcomplexmusic You are really right with this. I've found the same thing out. You have to leave acoustic space for everything in the mix. Putting in a good thick bass line will make the guitars seem heavier!
@fearcomplexmusic How do you get that sound man!?!?! I have Amplitube 3, but i think it sounds like shit :S Maybe it´s my speakers or something. What do you do to get that sound?
good way to get rid of shitty sound is if you have an OD pedal or TS pedal (like the real thing) use that before and make sure distortion level is at 0, put the tone up to smooth it out, and then output it in the input of your interface. you could always use the software TS but REAL PEdAL works best, that is how i achieve the sounds like this, so it doesnt sound muddy, especially the metal presets....oh and you goota have some decent speakers.
@JulianOfViolence Late response to your question but as little EQ as possible. These amp sims don't sound the greatest when you go crazy with EQ, in my experience anyway. I'll maybe do a narrow cut at around 4khz to remove some of that harshness and a broader cut around 250hz if required. I also will do a lo pass filter starting as low as 9khz, tames the fizz!
@JulianOfViolence perhaps the issue is not Amplitube but the audio interface you plug your guitar into-- an $800 interface will sound better than an $80 dollar interface. It is most important to get top quality input.
