  • It still amazes me that this movie didn't do too well. The special effects, and the music, were pretty impressive and incredible, especially considering it was made in 1979!

  • @tall32guy I think you right.. but only the Pictures are that great. The Music is NOT from the Original Music Score. I had to exchange it so it hopefully will NOT be deleted like 5 of my other Sci-Fi Tributes using original movie Soundtrack.

  • @tall32guy This movie shows what star trek really meant to Roddenberry, compared to star wars for example. Star Trek is more about exploration, and the amazement of discovery.

  • I like the music on this. What is it please?

  • @BUBIKINS I cant tell.. im afraid this Video gets deleted if i do. So sorry. 5 beloved precious tributes of mine already got deleted because of music Veto. :(

  • You know, someone once said something about the scene at 3:20 with Spock flying through what looks like the Eplsoline (however) station, there seems to be what looks like the face/mask of Darth Vader. And at the bottom probsbly looks like an image of Miss Piggy. And... I'd say that they'd be right. Really on the Darth Vader seeing

  • @UFOSPACE1999 To the Idiot posted THIS stupid Statement: I had to exchange it so it hopefully will NOT be deleted like 5 of my other Sci-Fi Tributes using original movie Soundtrack.

  • And the borg has born!

    It was our fault. lol.

  • How?

  • en(.)wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Borg_(Star_Trek)#Origin

  • It is not officially recognised. It isn't nessacary to tie these two events together. Borg and V'ger are two different things.

  • Is this the $7.99 Directors cut DVD that I can get at Best Buy,Target,Walmart?

  • Parts of the effect seen around 8:50 was reused in TNG's "Tin Man" episode.

Overall, this was pretty cool, just one question. How come you didn't include any of the images from Vulcan in this?

  • ....magnificent.....

  • At around 6:10 the shot of the Enterprise is so much better than the original. In the original she was badly out of proportion, with what appeared to be a fat and squashed saucer section. I'm glad they fixed that.

  • star trek 1979 was the best movie

    than star wars ,

  • Does anyone know if theres a video comparing the old effects from the original with the new effects of the directors cut?

  • Star Trek TMP never got a proper editing job when it was released. In his commentary, Director Robert Wise says that during the premeire screening, reel two was coming out of the developing room while reel one was showing. The Directors Cut DVD fixes that.

  • these scenes are from the recent directors cut DVd release, some of the old effects where enhanced or replaced by CGI, but many of the original 70's effects remain untouched and they are beautiful.

  • 4:35-5:05 and 5:57-6:50 were not in the original,

I promise you. These must have been added using CGI.

  • Thank you Johnedewey, you are right! I will correct this. Are there more CGI Scenes appearing in this "non-cgi" cut?

  • Oh, I'm not sure. I just remember watching the old version many, many times in my childhood.

  • becouse it was the 1970's

  • The very first shot of this video is an added CGI replacement of an inferior incomplete effect.

  • The shots at 4:35-5:05 are better than those in the original, they clearly show V'Ger firing on Earth, the original didn't really show this clearly I thought

  • @johnedewey , correct. They were added for a special anniversary DVD. There is even commentary about what the CGI artists added and how they wanted to "honor" to original effects by trying not to change too much, but to embelish the effects a bit. However, the brief effect shown around 6:30 was in the original film.

  • i can't stand those crappy director's edition cgi effects they don't blend well with the original photographic effects

  • Which CGI effects? There are no in this tribute. All handmade Photographic effects! Thats what makes it so fascinating.

  • Superb. Brillaint: Raves me.

  • Thank You! And thanks to the inventors of these wonderful effects. Back in the 70s.

  • star trek phase 2 was going to be the new

    star trek sicers
