Hey I just wanted to comment that today is Jan 3rd, 2012 and I chatted with live help and asked the tech support to enable catch all and 5 minutes later I was in business. So yes by default hostgator disables catch all, you must contact support and they will enable it!

What should I say if they ask me why I need 'catch-all'?

that info was straight from my HostGator Control Panel. When I click on Default Email icon, next page tells me that they do not offer catch-all emails any more because high levels of spam. Is there a way around it?

@COROVICD - I'm literally in cpanel right now and I can still add catchall emails with no problem. Have you got on the live chat on their website and told them to enable it on your domain?

hostgator doesn't support catch-all emails any more. What is the alternative.

@COROVICD - I'm not sure where you're getting your information from but I just talked to Hostgator live chat after reading your comment and they do still offer catchall email. Where did you hear that? Go to their live chat and ask if they still offer it, they'll say yes. :)
