I'm sorry to say, but this man is mistaken.

I've been studying Gigantopithecus canadensis for decades and they do not kill dogs and rarely kill any animals. They are primarily vegetarian and quite passive. They will eat meat when other options are not readily available. I most often see them feeding off tree bark or tree moss. They do eat nuts, berries, weeds and many forms of vegetation. Based on my personal witness accounts, they have high regard for other life forms.

It's definitely a dialect like you say. Just as British and Australian english are seperate dialects (with their own regional variations), too. As for the "trash culture," I could take offense at that, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're referring to only a certain subset of southern people, not the whole South.
