Mariah Carey is a great song writter. Her lyrics are very creative (she can talk about love in very different ways), she have depth and her vocabullary is rich. Great video.

Great video! Mariah is def one of the best lyricist in the game. No one can do a love song quite like she can, and her vocals with it only enhances their meaning. Yes, Songbird Supreme is the perfect name for her.

@MrButler124 I wouldn't call Mariah Carey one of the best lyricist, She's definitely above average though. I think it's more so how she's singing the words then the words themselves. Although she has written some truly great stuff like Close My Eyes, The Roof, Butterfly, Outside, etc. That's just my opinion.

@hessounusual95 Really? I mean think about it, if you take all her lyrics, sit down, without any music and just read them. Well, excpet for the fun party ones hahahahah but the ones close to the heart aer really deep and heartfelt. Plus, their not redundant, and their complex too. The singing only enhances their meaning though, through her phrasing, rhythmic structure, melodic structure, and use of her creative melisma. With all of that, yep, one of the best. not the best, but up there.

@MrButler124 Oh i'm familiar with all of Mariah's musical catalogue haha. She's probably the best big-voiced songwriter. Just in my opinion there are alot of female singers out there with better song writing abilities i.e Tracy Chapman, Alanis Morissette, Stevie Nicks, Lights, etc. Sure none of them have a voice like Mariah (although Stevie has a very strong lower register like Mariah, She speaks in the G#2-C3 range so you can imagine the ease she has) but in my opinion they ..

@hessounusual95 HAhahahah true, but I don't want to come across thinkin Mariah the best lyricist, cause I've herd plenty who are better song writers, i's just I consider Mariah up there as well. She in my top 3 hahhah. For me, not only do the lyrics matter, but also the level of musicality one displays. So while she may not be the better songwriter out of the ones you've mentioned,because of her immense ability as a musician and her level of musicality she is one of the best lyricist.

@hessounusual95 I could never get into stevie nicks to be honest. I mean, no offence, but she can't really sing...well IMO she can't. But yes woman is a great song writer. Excuse my last comment in my last paragrpah, I kinda contridicted myself hahaha, I meant to say "I don't want to come across thinkin she's a better songwriter(not lyricist), because there are better song writers out there" hahahah but as a lyricist, she's up there. but ummmm why are we debating this she's great okay hahaha:D

@MrButler124 Stevie isn't everyone's cup of tea, But she can sing. Her only problem (early on in her career) she would try singing outside of her range somewhat. Like on her song Landslide she would sing it several steps higher even though her ease is in the lower register. But she broke that habit and embraced her lower register once her voice deteriorated a bit. I understand how some people don't like her, She fundamentally is a good singer though, she's in her 50's and she can .

@MrButler124 sustain notes for close to 20 seconds with ease, Hit C3's and D3's no problem. I'm not getting snappy about you saying she can't sing, not everyone is going to like the same artists as other people. Like you love mariah obviously, and I at one time liked her to but I'm not so fond of her voice as of late. Even though she's undeniably talented and skilled vocalist.

You know, stuff like Underneath the stars, The wind, Love song, Bye Bye, We Belong together, Long ago, I am free, Looking in, Petals, I don't wanna cry, Vanishing, There's got to be a way, Vision of love, Make it happen, I wish you well, I stay in love, Through the rain, fly like a bird, etc most of her songs are very lyrical & have meaning, hence my previous statement:)
