  • You don't understand the meaning of the word "theory" either.

  • When scientists say that rocks tell us how old they are, you realize they don't mean that the rocks *literally* tell us how old they are, right?

  • "And learned that the Civil War was in the United States. I didn't even know that much."

    Really???

  • The bible is not a historical document. That is just idiocy. And there were many, many people that lived before Moses even in the Bible. Ill make the easiest flaws in the historical Bible. Firstly no-one knows who wrote the Old or New Testament - no one knows who Matthew Mark Luke or John were, but we do know that some of the writings are from 500 years after Jesus died. Then, there is always no proof of a Great Flood, causing mass extermination and also no proof that Joshua conquered Palestine

  • And also, could you tell me when the dinasours excisted if the world was created 6000 years ago? And if you dont beileve they did, where do all these skeletons we find come from?

And do you not believe in cave paintings? Thats the handprint. Back in viking time, there were runes aswell. And how can you prove that the bible was written 6000 years ago. Thats also just an assumption

  • The examples you used for science being full of assumptions, arent really assumption, for example all trees have rings and it makes sense. I beileve that Jesus excisted, because their is proof. There is no proof of alot of assumptions in the bible, but their is in science.

So I think its weird using an argument as a christian against atheists/scientists that their are so many assumptions in science, when basiclly the bible is full of assumptions.

  • What you call "assumptions" in science not people walking around someone's backyard thinking "Hey, I think that tree is 100 years old." Its more along the lines of "Hey, that tree looks pretty old, let's see exactly how old it is." And the fact that you think a theory is unproven is totally and completely wrong. Theories only become theories through scientific study over decades, and I repeat decades! When the idea is proven that it is true to the best of our knowledge, then it becomes a theory.

  • So much dumb in this video. Wish I could meet a girl like this!

  • I just realized this is satire. Absolutely brilliant!

  • The amount of stupid. I'm surprised that I was able to get through this video. There is so much to comment on in this video that I'm not even going to waste my time besides writing this. Just because you use words like "hypothesis" "data" etc doesn't mean you understand science or know what you are talking about.

  • I wonder if this is satire. a very deep satire.

The origins of language can be found on stone monuments and caves across the world.

Symbolism (written language) is far more recent than spoken language but they still date back before the bible's time for humans. Language evolves constantly and is changing ever generation.

The where is the half evolved man comment however is amazing, just go to a natural history museum.

  • i hope you do realize that that the bible was made by the roman church (originally and has changed over several hundred years) to control people and gain power and money... ohh and what historians sad that the bible is "100% to what is said" give me a list i want to see a list. let me tell you what you are doing you are BLINDLY believing in your god. no matter if we give you 100% truth you wont beleave it. i honestly think that atheist should stop trying to help you. its a shame

  • Oh 'god' the stupid. . . it burns.

  • A fiction novel that uses real events and places doesn't make it real. if you still believe that Chinese, Blacks, Indians descended from Noah (since the rest of humanity died in the Flood) or Jesus cured the blind, resuscitated a man, and you say "with God everything is possible, then why you don't see pastors curing the severely burned, growing amputated limbs, restoring the sight to blinds???

  • If you honestly didn't know that the American Civil War took place in America, you have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that your opinions on anything should be treated with no more regard than those of an infant.

  • YES YOU WILL! you can age the tree accurately by the growth rings, this is NOT a theory... idiot...

  • Evolution says that the earth is billions of years old. And based off evolution is true, scientists are developing experoments that have the potential to cure cancer and prevent or even reversing the aging proccess. So sciences of the past are benifitting sciences of the future.

Humans in other cultures, like China, also say that the earth is older than 6000 years old.

  • Wow! You graduated from High School without even figuring out that the American Civil War took place in the U.S? That's just pathetic. I'd be embarrassed to admit that in public.

    - Nowhere in The Bible does it say that the earth is 6,000 years old.

    - The cave paintings at Lascaux are about 18,000 years old... You asked for a hand print? You can find one there. The paintings in Chauvet are even older at about 32,000 years old.

  • "Christians believe that the world is 6,000 years old".... Wrong, you're generalizing. Most Christians, including the two largest Christian denominations, as well as most mainline Protestants, accept that the earth is 4.5 BYO and that evolution is a fact. It is mostly Fundamentalists/Evangelicals Protestants (mostly in the U.S.) who believe in this YECism nonsense. But they are a minority within Christianity. So please, don't lump all Christians with those anti-science ignoramuses.

  • the bible holds up to science? lol. so that earth is flat?

also, the idea that jesus didn't existing is no a conspiracy theory.

  • Why do you make videos? Don't you realise that you're showing the world how stupid and/or ignorant you really are.

  • i knew this video was going to be great when said she didn't know the civil war happened in the united states until she got to college.

    "rocks don't talk"

  • How did Noah gather up polar bears and kangaroos when those animals only lived on a different continent?

  • The worst type of evidence is eyewitness testimony in a court. If you're on a jury, and a guy is accused of rape but the DNA collected doesn't match his DNA. Also there is a cell phone record of the guy making a call 25 miles away at the time of the rape. There is also a video tape of his car going over a bridge 20 miles away about 10 minutes after the rape. On the other side the victim swears without any doubt the guy is the person who raped her. So, tetetakneea, is he guilty?

  • oh My GOD SHES SO FUCKING STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!! that is all i have to say

  • You're an American who didn't realize the American civil war took place in America? No wonder you still believe in Christianity.

  • You have completly missed the point. You have have no concept of what science is at all!

  • No, the bible is not history, it's mostly a collection of myths.

You're also totally utterly wrong about what a theory is, a hypothesis becomes a theory when it's validated and functionally accurate, not the other way round.

  • I can't even express how stupid this video was...

"i never knew the civil war was in the US"

    /facepalm

  • I'm with you, where are those little stick figures and letters left by the Neanderthals and other ancient peoples - if they really existed in the first place? That would tell us more about evolution than stupid rocks and trees and bones. Looks like your understanding of history has greatly improved since you stopped reading those boring history books in high school and took up the bible! Keep on improving...

  • LOL,a BOOK that's talking about its religious legends..YOU BELIEVE 100%??

A book is NOT grandma. The Muslims have a book that contradicts the bible. Now watcha gonna do?It also has historical facts that are backed up! You are so simple minded.

& a tree doesn't lie. Its evidence. If it's X amount of rings, that is HOW OLD IT IS. EVERY TREE that has EVER been cut down with a VERIFIED AGE BEFOREHAND ABSOLUTELY MATCHES the rings.

We also have evidence of Egyptians that go back more than 6000.

  • So,Muslims think their book is granny too. SO ITS GRANNY VS GRANNY. HAH

So how to decide? Why,we would need a neutral judge to decide between em!Who?Who can be that judge?Oh,I KNOW

    SCIENCE+EVIDENCE

So we know at LEAST ONE of those books is wrong, right?WAIT,what if BOTH are wrong?AND,theres MORE grannies out there!Lots of religions!

In Actuality religious books are less like grandma,& more like politicians. You telling me you believe everything a politician tells you?Now you see why we laugh.

  • @Rawkarma That comment made my life.Thank you!

  • The bible doesn't explicitly say the world is six thousand years old. That idea was just a few theologians tracing back the supposed lineage of adam and eve and concluding that there was about six thousand years that passed. Theres a ton of theological as well as logical holes with such a conclusion. Ignoring of course, the science which, despite what you say- is rather conclusive. I am a Christian too by the way, and I do agree the bible is historical in many cases. Not this.

  • humans are fallable, moron. beleive nothing what you hear. the FACTS on the other hand do not lie

  • There was the universe before Earth. Earth wasn't the first planet and will not be the last. The universe was around for about 9.5 billion years before Earth was. The very atoms that us, the Earth and everything else on it were made in stars through Nuclear Fusion of Hydrogen atoms, then released in a Supernova. Those stars would have been billions of years old themselves before dying. There are planets far older than Earth. The universe is bigger than you think, try learning about it.

  • I hate history and so it does not exist :)

    lol these creationists are idiots

  • Anyway, subjectivity in accounts. Let's take your granny as an example, for consistency. Imagine she's an aristocrat during the French Revolution, and the common people murder a lot of her friends and claim her land as their own. Would she be accurate in her portrayal of the revolution? No! She would portray them as ruthless murderers, rather than freedom fighters. It all depends on perspective, and that's something that needs to be taken in to account with history.

  • Are you suggesting that science is trying to tell us the past? That's completely contradictory to what science is, the study of knowledge. They use carbon dating to find out how old the earth COULD be (remember, it's all theoretical), they don't use carbon dating to talk about the assassination of Marat in the French Revolution...

Another fault in history is subjectivity. Everyone has an agenda, it doesn't matter how intellectual they are, they will discriminate facts. (To be continued below).

  • 2:11-2:27ish--Correct on the proving, but the rest is another jaw-dropping, fatuous claim. A theory is the highest level of explanation in science, and evolution has met the highest standards of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. It is a theory and a fact. Your story with your grandmother completely misses the entire point--of COURSE anecdotes are important! 4:16--wrong again, look up dendrochronology. Your comprehension of the sciences of the past is woeful to the point of being farcical.

  • 0:39--WRONG! Plenty of your coreligionists don't subscribe to the ridiculous delusion that the world is six thousand years old! 1:59--a singularly jaw-dropping claim. History is concerned with recorded, human history, and it is informed by science (archaeology, for one example). But there is also natural, evolutionary history--and for that, we in the real world rely on paleontology, geology, etc., rather than superstitions from the Iron Age.

  • your interpretation of the scientific method is way off. you should look up what it takes for a scientific hypothesis to turn into a scientific theory. and putting faith into a 2000 yr old book is much more reasonable then putting faith into a demonstrable science that you have no idea about. and you're for research??? really??? and do the world a favor and prove that jesus ever existed. if you can then you have done better then every other super christian above you. you are NOT smart, i recant

  • First you got an hypothesis, then you try prove it if you prove it it is a theory. If you dont prove it you need to make a new hypothesis and then repeat.

Theory is the highest grade of evidence in science, Study how the rocks say it is 4,5 billion, It is all about radiation. You talk about there is no evidence for humans before the 6000 years ago, we got art and graves of humans as old as 20000, they lived during the ice age, plus documentations from Hinduism which is older then 6000 years.

  • In science, you guess, then you prove, and what you proved is called a theory unless someone disproves it. If you don't prove, it's called unreliable bullshit, in science.

  • _____Waddaymean, lyin'? Didn't you know that Jesus rode a tyrannosaourus rex in the final charge that defeated the alien hordes? Anyway... What was I gonna say? Oh yeah. I only came to this video in looking for some reference to "crapsack world." This video has "sack" and "crap" in it. Could you actually imagine a sack of poo? What's the sack made of? It'd have to be cloth; sacks have to be made of the stuff. And I'm guessing it's cow crap since the stuff is easy to get. Where's the beef!

  • "Where is.....?" Really??? How do you do your research? Do you use Cliffnotes? In addition to your bible, try reading some science books. Not all science is based in evolution nor atheism. Please, please, please, for the sake of Christianity and your children...educate yourself more.

I think you are a very intelligent person, but what you pontificate on only grossly displays your ignorance easily remedied with reading a little on carbon dating and paleontology. Really.

    Peace \/,,

  • I could not put it better myself cnit2.

  • Then apparently you didn't do too well in English Composition. Is that the case?

  • @stratoleft

If your bringing English Composition into it i could say the same thing to you right since you have nothing to contribute. But then again English Composition has nothing to do with this i was merely agreeing with cnit2.

Why bother expressing my opinion while cnit2 has already hit the nail on the head. I could elaborate but why would i be spending any more precious time explaining to an ignoramus.

  • You didn't know untill college that the Civil War took place in the US?

  • To be fair, in Australia, we called it the "American civil war". It's a little bit harder not to realise that the American civil war was in the USA. Culturally she must never have seen "Gone with the Wind". If she comes from the South maybe they never spoke about it and pretended it never happened.

  • History is a social science. The social sciences being a less exact form of science. You're pitting the physical sciences against the social sciences. The problem with social sciences is the lack of objectivity. Christian fundamentalist's hold by faith that the bible is history, except where it conflicts with their world view, then the bible passages are metaphorical. Non fundamentalist Christians admit that whilst some parts of the bible are historical, other parts are not.

  • Cont..

So not even fundamentalist Christians believe that the bible is totally historical. "Faith" is another form of a "guess".

The bible is a collection of books. Just because one book has historically correct information does not imply that another book does too. That is just a guess and an assumption. Obviously the book of Genesis is not a record of known history as no-one could have witnessed their own creation. So the time of a creation event could not be known historically.

  • You should start citing your information, especially if you're directing your videos toward an Atheist audience. Your videos would be taken more seriously if you had direct quotes and citations. Atheists happen to be fans of proof. =]

Specifically, I would like to know which historians you're talking about when you say they tried to find historical evidence of the bible and were converted to Christianity because of the overwhelming evidence. Please cite your source when you do so.

    Love, Amy.

  • Let's try this factual analogy, atheists. Here's the deal. Trying to use "science" in order to "disprove" the Bible (Christianity, KJV, NIV) is like taking a Chevrolet truck or car like Camaro, Impala, etc., or Buick, and then using those same cars as your "proof" that General Motors doesn't exist. Think about it ;-)

  • Your "factual analogy" is fractually wrong!

  • How does fractal geo graphics relate , in any way, shape, or form, to the word "factual"? If you are trying to play some sort of onomatopoeic word game, you really came off sounding cheap because it is cheap. Is that the best your atheistic "English" teacher could do for you? Not that that bothers me, but don't leech off my post in order to do it. Get your own material. That shouldn't be too tough, right? Atheists don't need God, since He doesn't exist anyway, so go do it on your own.

  • Your "factual analogy" is fractually wrong!

"fractually wrong" means "Being wrong at every conceivable scale of resolution."

strat, your comment does not make any sense. You said, "Trying to use "science" in order to "disprove" the Bible .."

Bibles exist, dude. I've got a bible sitting on my bookshelf. No-one is trying to "disprove" the existence of the bible. Trying to compare "science" with a chevy and the bible with general motors is ridiculous! How can an analogy be factual?

  • Science is what we humans has for understanding the world. You know, science was not always based on empirical evidence. The way we use science today is in a self correcting way, where your thesis has to stand up for massive criticism by other scientists. If a thesis stand up good enough with empirical evidence, it becomes a scientific theory. That´s as good as it gets. Religion is as Sam Harris puts it; "a flawed science", where you base a view on one single persons statements.

  • Actually if you chop the tree down you can read its age by counting the growth rings. By the variation in the thickness of each growth ring we can gain an insight into the climate corresponding to that year.

  • Perhaps you should at least read William Lane Craig, one of the leading evangelical apologists and philosophers, who recognizes that the earth is not 6,000 years old.

  • You have a limited knowledge of science. Your knowledge of science today is the same as your knowledge of US history when you did not know that the Civil War was fought in the US. Science is like one big jig saw puzzle. They are putting pieces together piece by piece. The more pieces that get put together the more they can see the whole picture. The bible was written when the pieces were just a scrambled mess. We now have enough pieces to know that Earth is 4.5 billion yrs old.

  • Who are you to tell me my knowledge on Science, I happen to love science and always have... It will always strike me as more interesting than History, I just now have a found appreciation for History... Pieces... Where are the pieces... ?

  • If you have a love for science, then you are not showing it. If you are going to believe your 105 yr old grand mother that a tree was planted 50 yrs ago, when the tree rings clearly say 100 yrs, well sorry your grand mother is wrong.

  • That is where we differ, I choose to believe in Science, but agree that it doesn't always have the right answer. Miracles happen everyday that Dr. Say... are not possible... this is because it defys science... It is merely a matter of if you will open your mind to see that there is more to us than a simple equation... if there was a scientific solution to life, we would be able to control everything, but we can't, because there isn't.

  • We don't claim there is a simple equation, we work on doubt instead of jumping to conclusions like religious groups.

  • @tetetakneea Now you are comparing the most complex living thing on the planet (a person) with one of the most simple living thing (the tree). The human body is very complex, for that we have a term that a doctor is practicing medicine. People are so different from each other such as alergies. If I have too much MSG in my food, I will have to be sent to the hospital to have my stomach pumped. Also there is will power helps people heal. The tree is very simple. Tree rings show the age period.

  • @tetetakneea There IS an equation to life, in theory. As long as we are governed by the laws of physics and chemistry, the movement and outcome of every cause is entirely explicable. We will never KNOW of this equation, but it is still possible, because we can accurately predict moon cycles, solar eclipses, the movement of billiard balls. The universe is matter, it's not some mystical element that makes it beyond our comprehension to predict. But, this is more a question of theoretical science.

  • It is easy to deduct that you don't know much about science or you are just trying to make it look bad for your religious group. Because if you did know a thing or two you would realize that these accusations sound as stupid to us as they do to you.

  • What? Humans are wrong all of the time, take yourself for example. Humans must be one of the least credible sources of information ever because a "rock" does not have anything to gain from your ignorance while humans can exploit it for profit.

  • Did she just say that the nonexistence of Jesus is a conspiracy theory?

  • Then what is it?

  • It's more of a accepted fact...

  • When did she say Jesus is, or was, nonexistent?

  • Has you're grandma been alive for 6000 years? I'm sorry, but this video is silly.

  • It was a metaphore...

  • I know it was, but you can't talk to the authors of the bible, so it's not a good metaphor, know what I'm sayin?

  • Yes, but you can know their story, most of them were killed for their faith, and tested beyond measures to the idea of death for the gospel... And there were many witnesses to all the people in the bible.

  • Ask yourself this question: "How can I KNOW their stories?" Tell me what you come up with.

  • How do you KNOW what Hitler did?

  • Hundreds upon hundreds of independent sources and living witnesses...

  • Thank you, Case closed...

  • And when the living witnesses are dead, I assume there will be no need to believe in Hitler?

  • Take away the living witnesses and what do we have? Hundreds upon hundreds of independent sources. How many sources do we have for the truth claims of the Mormon religion. One source by one man. It's sad that you don't see the flaw in your reasoning.

  • The same is said about Elvis being alive.

P.s. We also have part of Hitlers skull, that has more weight than any eye witness.

  • okay, well lets go a little further... Ceasar... Pharoah... And other historical figures... How do you know??? And WE? You actually have his skull yourself?

  • The same goes for Ceasar and Pharoah: The sheer number of independent sources. Don't get the impression that I don't apply this same standard to other historical figures. It seems likely at this point that Socrates, for example, was perhaps only a philosophical ideal that Plato and others developed and refined. Jesus just happens to take the cake for being SO ingrained in our culture with so very little to look for for verification that he isn't just another comic book hero.

  • Momonism is wrong! And there is more accounts than 1 and none of them line up... this is why I know that Joseph Smith was a false prophet... There are just as many accounts of Jesus out of the bible than there are for other historical figures... Do some research and you will see that people have tried to prove Him worng... but can't... the only thing they say is they can't find his body... which makes sense, because he accended to heaven...

  • Hmm...my bad. I was under the impression that you are Mormon. Are you non-denominational?

To answer your question about Jesus--how bout you point me to these firsthand witness accounts of Jesus other than the bible...I can save you some time by just telling you: they don't exist.

  • That is becasue the first hand witnesses are the bible... But there are other books that are not in the bible because they didn't pertain to prophecy from the old testiment... Lost book of Mary (Magdalene) Talks about knowing Jesus, but her story is not in the bible, Roman documents speak of Jesus as someone the jews were calling the messiah, not claiming he was but just mentioning Him in their time as documention, as if you were to write about today and mention Tyra Banks.

  • If these are reliable sources....why are they not in the Bible? As a Christian, aren't you obliged to reject them outright?

  • No, Why would I reject them? When biblical scholars put together the books of the bible, they picked the ones that all went together the best, the ones they thought expressed Jesus' teachings. The other books are more of personal accounts... We as Christians are not taught that we are not to read other sources... these are not "evil" books, they just don't have too much to do with his Diety, but more Him as a person.

  • So what does this say about the Bible?! They decided NOT to include any of the gospels by people that actually interacted face-to-face with Jesus?! Don't you see that this doesn't make any sense?

  • "they picked the ones that all went together the best"

Yes the following historical information contradicts itself:

The gospel of Philip Those who say that the Lord died first and (then) rose up are in error, for he rose up first and (then) died.

  • The Australian aboriginals have lived in Australia for the last 40,000 years They were able to walk here from Africa at a time when much more water was locked up in an ice age. Today Australia is an island and cut off from Asia; they would not be able to walk here, today. If the earth was only 6 thousand years old the Australian aborigines would not have been able to walk to Australia.

  • huh?

  • @tetetakneea You really have no idea how to construct a logical argument to prove the intended point you want to make your vids, regardless if it is right or wrong. Every single attempt you make at making a point is horrendously clumsy and based on nothing but what seems like you skimming over a summary of the Bible on a Cliffnotes website or something. Do you even realize how idiotic you sound? I feel bad for the kids you say you 'teach'- they are getting a raw deal. Sucks for them.

  • @tetetakneea

    - proof of the existence of a person is not special. i exist

    - if historians can't answer questions does that make anything you want true?

    - the bible lacks repeatability

    you are very amusing

  • "You guess and if you don't prove it it becomes a theory..."

No, not remotely all theories are based on evidence.

"If I want to know what happened 100 years ago I ask someone 100 years old"

Problem with that is humans remember things the way they want but in science things are independently verifiable and repeatable. Your grandmas opinion is not. The reason why you dont support dating methods or evolution is because it contradicts your faith. Period.
