Coming from a musical family is a major advantage, there's the constant inspiration, guidance and empathy towards your instrumental adolescence that you would NEVER get with normal, unmusical and non-caring parents and siblings.

You can't really hear it in this video, but violins are _very(!)_ loud when played like that. So loud, I couldn't ever practice in my room at any time without a metal mute on the bridge and a sock over both f-holes. It sucks!!!

Lisa, just letting you know, the violin notes are exactly the same with a piano, that should definitely help you read the music ;)

I love the violin!!!! I played for 14 years and stopped halfway through college, I miss it soooo bad!!! It was always so relaxing for me! It took A LOT of hard work to get where I was. I have forgotten how therapeutic playing can be! This is making me want to start playing again!!! Love your videos!!

Watching this video makes me want to go and learn to play a violin. I don't think I would do as good as you. You picked it up fast. And Mary was able to adjust to you being left handed quickly. Everytime I see the awkwardness of doing something opposite handed it makes me appreciate being ambidextrous.

UGHHH this reminds me of when i had to take strings in college. (Vocal music ed graduate) I chose the violin ohhhh my... it sounded like a cat's death cry every time i played LOL Playing instruments is SOO different than singing, but i want to lean how to play something.
