@MrMharc Disagree. Colour of Money was made 25 years after Hustler. Different era, different director. The character of Fast Eddie is the only common thread, but he's a generation older. It's superior to the vast majority of sequels and stands on its own as a strong story.

Paul Newman is Vincent mentor and stake horse (backer). They fall out and Eddie returns to playing pool.

This scene has a twist, I wont spoil it but you must see this film, it is excellent , the Hustler (1st film) is very good too, if possible see that first as Eddies charter in the Hustler is very similar to Vincent in the Color of Money

That jump shot couldn't have been set-up any easier. The 1st time you see it, notice the 7 and 8 are fairly close, but angled apart. The actual shot, they are seperated a lot more and almost side by side. Probably would have only needed the cue ball to rise 1" to make that shot. Tom Cruise your the master! Love watching some of the laughable set-ups and shots in this goofy movie.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time but the one problem with the film was this situation: We never got to see Vince play Newman for real.

i did see this film!!! i didnt care for it, the characters were dull except for mastrantonio and shriver. cruise(annoying) and newman weren't that interesting, and the ending really sucked because where was the final showdown? the tracking shots were annoying especially when you see those damn pool balls flying all over the screen. you prolly like this film cause scorsese directed it. you are such a typical jump the scorsese band wagon type.

I was in the military, I've played pool for over 20 yrs and I'm in a league and I'm a computer tech. if there is a movie on one of these subjects, my wife will not watch it with me because I'm constantly pointing out the flaws in the movie. Just like here. Tom Cruise's position play SUCKS. No pro would have ever set up for that bank shot.

There is some commentary on the the merit of the pool playing. Come on people, pool in this film is just the `medium' used to execute the main story. Paul Newman and Tom Cruise are professional actors; not pool players.
