best solution I have ever found is to just mash the keys until I get a human. Worked great 2 years ago with HP. I would be talking to a person that speaks perfect English in the US within 5 minutes.
My guess is this backdoor was to help people that were having trouble with the menus
I hate when my ISP says "There's a problem in your area". That's funny - I know you don't have call display / phone number lookups built into your IVR, so how do you know where I'm even calling from? You haven't even looked up my account so how can you know my problem is related to your outage?
Have you waited so long that you forgot what you were having problems with?...it was a 33 minute wait....
Then another asks "what are you waiting on" YOU! (your running late for work) now its time to go to work...then wishing you didn;t call on a cell phone so you could slam the phone down to hang up on them to get rid of a little frustration...but you can only push a button that makes a small beep.
hahaha, This is funny because it's true, i work for tech support and even i have trouble with the ridiculous menus when transfering cx's to other departments!
I hate it when I call tech support and they ask me if the computer is plugged in... Someone asked me that after I already told him the computer was on and I had a picture on the monitor... I wanted to punch the guy through the phone.
He connected the router to the wrong port... But still I have been in this position. Although it was a faulty modem that I had problems with, not being stupid.
ahaha yeah its true ppl r REAL jerks on tech support but u gotta admit it can be really frustrating when u have a problem n u have to wait for hours xD
Not to piss in your pocket, but without the RJ45 being plugged in you would'nt of been able to access the router config pages... Other than that, preeety spot on...
Yeah we realize there were a few things technically wrong with it. It is in fact a real working router we used as a broken one. lol Thanks for the feedback though.
Judging by the antenna right in front of the camera, and the fact its a laptop computer, I'm guessing it's a wireless router. Just though I'd point that out.
@tinytinysky I hate not having an edit button... That's not exactly true. If you don't use the WAN port for the uplink, the wireless would still work, it just wouldn't be a firewalled port. In other words, it would simply act as a switch, rather than a router.
im sitting at a help desk right now .. taking calls from jackass's .. if you dont know how to use your box .. then you dont deserve one.and dont call TECH SUPPORT .. EVER!
Here in the UK, BT Internet tech support sucks arse through a straw. For anyone reading, you 'can' get a UK tech support person (who is way more helpful and knows what he's doing) if you 'complain'.
The bloody Indian lady on the other end had me open the entire phone line box up! I mean, what the hell!? The UK guy fixed it within 2 minutes!
Thanks for making me laugh!!! I have spend 3 weeks on the phone with verizon since I got fios which sucks!!!! I still do not have phone service!!! Yhis video is great! % stars for creativity
Freakin' Halarious! Truth be known, ALL this has happened to me too many times. I totally agree with "MCMAISANO" (yet another VERIZON dissatisfied customer)she got VERIZON RUN-AROUND like the rest of us. I too, asked for the VERIZON President & CEO's mailing address & phone number and was repeatively told customer service could not give me THAT INFO I requested.

We exaggerated slightly there. That isn't actually an option they give you but sometimes it feels like it.

@JCournoyer Hey maybe the computer was getting the routers IP using a wireless adapter, thats how you were able to access linksys config gui

That's bs, my router allows access from wireless devices into the configuration pages.
Perhaps your router doesn't allow you to do it without RJ45.
