  • I just bought this cd used last weekend...........its almost like Full Moon Fever in a way. Made me think a lot of that period in my life when I listened to Full Moon Fever when it first came out. I was in 8th grade, visiting my dad in Mass and us playing cards while listening to this in his house off Cape Cod. Thinking about that brought some closure while listening to this new cd while going on a long walk last Sunday.

  • Love this band so much...hoping for another album soon!

  • I love this band.... Fun album, hope they will put out another....

  • I love this band.... Fun little tunes :)

  • "I guess everybody thinks that about their own record, but I'm right" lol!!!!!!!!!!11

  • To put this album out and then turn around and produce MOJO is a testament to the talent involved.

  • "We're in the days of downloading track by track and stuff, but it's a record that's good all the way thru. I guess everybody thinks that about their own record, but im right" - Tom Petty. he's damn right.

  • Mudcrutch rocks

  • These guys are such a breath of fresh air.

  • My favorite record in years!

  • "He used to get drunk and call me late at night and tell me to go to hell!" HAHAHAHA!!!! Benmont is so hot!

  • Reason for the name.

  • Love the Heartbreakers, but the alchemy happening here is the Real Deal. We're lucky to have decades of great Heartbreakers music to add Mudcrutch roots to. If Florida cypress trees had roots like these, they would have walked out of the swamp on them & taken over the country decades ago (given half a chance by the powers that be ;) Thanks Mudcrutchers, for saying,"Yes"... again.

  • great great stuff, I listend at my brothers house to the opener "shady grove" - after the songs intro I knew " I must have this album"

Please tour Germany and come to Munich!

  • The red Rickenbacker bass the Tom is playing....has a lefty neck...on a righy bass.... WHATTTT???????

  • It's a model 4001c64, which is a reproduction of Paul McCartney's Rickenbacker before he sanded it down.

  • That's so weird :O

  • Mudcrutch is like if you took Tom petty's pop rock sound and mixed it with George thorogood or classic bluesey rock.

I bought the album and the live EP both on vinyl and the speakers are broken in half by the time they are done playing. Just great stuff. Some real good chemistry between them.

  • absolutely beautiful...most of us don't get the chance to...come home like this

  • It get's really scary when you combine Mudcrutch with the mistique of the book n movie The Yearling...oh and Cross Creek. These guys are the soundtrack since all the songs are set in the same (Alachua, Florida) county. Lucky they didn't meet up with any of the Ocala dudes like John Winter. Great googlie mooglie!!

  • if it wasent for mudcrutch there wouldent be the heartbreakers!

  • Luv The Mud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mudcrutch is some badass stuff

    less freefallin more mud!!

  • Well ZomieKiller222, I'd be far more scared of you if you learned to spell and write! There as opposed to their, devistated as opposed to devastated, no capital letter after suicide, no apostrophe in don't. Goodness me, it seems Zombie school has gone downhill of late.

  • It makes sense emotionally for Tom. The other three heart breakers are Steve Ferrone, the "new" drummer, a studio master, who works with many bands, Scott Thruston, a great musician but still a newer companion & the beautiful Ron Blair who was a lucky find in 75 and who quit for decades. The core of the band, reuniting with Marsh & Leadon as Mudcrutch is honest and pure. The music shows that. It's like new fields to some old road dogs.

  • This album caught my 7 year old daughter's attention and heart . I downloaded a few tunes, and played them a lot in my car . One day my little girl said out of nowhere "Daddy, will you by me this CD for my birthday ?" Needless to say I did . In an age of pure crap and nonsense passing as music , this album lays the foundation down again for a young audience to be exposed to . Mudcrutch rules . The album couldn't have come at a better time .

  • @squabs217

great story. I'm more of a surf and 60s guy, but this album is absolutely brilliant. Great tunes and playing

  • I heard 'Scare Easy' on one of the music channels on TV one day and thought to myself "Who are these Mudcrutch guys? They're really good. But their singer sounds WAY too much like Tom Petty"! Hahaha.

  • But I'm right LOL : ) Albums rule!

  • Tom Petty is golden. Amazing forever!

  • What a fun video!

I have been crankin this album since it came out and it is more enjoyable each time. I sure hope we get another Mudcrutch record in the future...

  • i feel so bad for those other guys.

  • they have so many fucking guitars!!

  • Hey Mike...

Do they have enough guitars yet>?

  • Greg...they do, but I don't. Happy new year.

  • I just ran up on this and recognized the name after seeing the Running Down a Dream DVD...Woa, this is really great! I love to hear anything Tom Petty has anything to do with. Thanks guys..I just ordered the CD today and cannot wait to get it.

  • Well, I think, overall, this is a sign that what a cool guy Tom is (and Benmont and Mike). The album sounds like TP & THB having a good time, not thinking of doing "a big thing", just enjoyiong themselves. And yes, it is beautiful how the other two finally got their chance after all these years. As Mick Jagger once said: "friendship has to be in it. In the equation"

  • Everything Tom Petty and his band do is great.

The guy is so cool. Amazing musicians. Memorable songs...

  • TP&TH is a great band - Mudcrutch is a great band - what more can you say?

  • kick-ass album. i'm glad leadon and marsh finally got to be rock stars after all those years and didn't hold a grudge for not making ther big time. they sound great on the album along with the others we've known and loved all these years. looks like they had alot of fun being together again.

  • the album kicks ass!

  • Being an Old T.P. fan I knew about Mudcrutch for years....I had an old 45 called "Depot street" Great stuff......

  • Cool history that I never knew about.

  • I'm sure he has to be around the same age of Tom P...so....55-58...somewhere in there maybe. ;) I love Tom L. <3

  • tom petty just...he just he KICKS ASS okay greatest man in the world and he is just awesome and Mudcrutch is just...amazing

  • can anybody tell me what song is being played at the very beginning? thanks in advance.

  • Bootleg Flyer. =)

  • Beyond awesome

  • I think its great that 3 Heartbreakers went back..and found the other two guys to make this album. I bet they were glad too.

  • tom looks better (less scary too) today then he did back in the 60's 70's. I was kind of afraid of him growing up. :) always loved him tho.

  • scared of what?? long hair?? beard?? bad breath?? are you kidding i think lemmey from moterhead is more scary but he wouldnt scare me at the least , lemmys cool ,

  • Yeah you're right. To me, for example, the old boy bands (reformed New dicks on the block or Take that) are much more scary than, say, Lemmy, Bob Dylan, John Martyn, Tom Petty or Noddy Holder. Or the lead singer out of Chicory Tip. (eeek)

  • Got this album today on vinyl - it sounds SO GOOD. Listened to it from start to finish: every track is great.

  • what a wonderful band!

  • Benmont! :]

  • Tom Petty. awesome.

  • Tom Petty always looks so cool

  • Tom Petty is always right!

  • this album proves that modern rock bands suck. period.

  • You are correct. For the most part, good ole R&R, like the style offered by TP has disappeared. Here's to hoping this new music influences some of the younger dudes.

  • Do yourself a real favor...Buy this album!!!!

  • This is just an awesome story!

  • lol...Tom Pettys like "its a record thats good all the way through. I guess everybody thinks that about their own record, but im right." Thats so true. Skrew off angles and airwaves, brighteyes, fall out boy, good charlotte, etc. Mudcrutch is the real deal. Learn to love music again.

  • An album cut live off the floor...what's not to like!! These guys are the "real deal" and it's a great story!!

  • Live studio albums sound so fresh and vivant. Petty's using the same recording method as they did for 94's Wildflowers solo album. It gives a different sound and feel to the album.

  • Awesome, thx for posting. Petty's the real deal and the band improved w/age...

  • weird why did it take so long? tom seems distant

  • Probably because he's high. Also likely wants to not hog the spotlight any more than is unavoidable.

  • /watch?v=1UEOZGFzPas

  • Cheers!!!

  • Does this mean Dubs is going to open again? I could sure go for 15 cent beer.

  • !!!!!

  • Any song that talks about a gris-gris bag is BAD ASS! So very cool that they are getting back together. Thanks for posting this.

  • Dude. I never thought they'd ever get back together...I'm sure as hell glad they did. The album is awesome. Buy it!!!! I love it when Petty stretches his musical talents.

  • I am on my way to buy this album! Thanks guys!

Hope to see you all on the tour!

  • After attending to a couple of "festivals" on the Mudcrutch Farm back in the day, listening to this album is one hell of a flashback. Come on back to Hogtown boys. We miss ya!

  • This by far one of the best Tom Petty albums ever. The whole album rocks, every song is awesome.

  • went out and bought it today. it is phenominal. i highly recommend this. especially if yer a tom petty fan. heck even if yer not. actually everyone should give mudcrutch a try.

  • Of course he's right...TOM PETTY is always right!! AWESOME MUSIC!!

  • Having seen Mudcrutch in person back in the day - it's great to have them back! How bout another free concert in the Plaza of Americas, Tom?

  • Freakin Cool MUDCRUTCH!

  • any body who loves this needs to check out the travelin wilburys

  • while less than a foot away from Tom P's microphone at the Troubadour (LA) on 4-25-08, I would honestly say this CD and this concert rank in the top 5 I've seen or heard since 1975. Get chills hearing / thinking about this band's music. Wish rap/hiphop/ and all that other 'non music' would take a back seat to good ole fashioned RnR.

  • This album is awesome...instantly one of my favorites

    everyone should go buy it!!!

  • Oh man, this is probably one of the coolest things ever. The album sounds amazing, I'm picking up my copy tomorrow!

  • This is about the coolest thing anybody's ever done. I lived in Gainesville for a long time, and I've been a big fan of TP & The HB's since high school. Now in Atlanta, I'm telling everyone I run into to get this CD. I couldn't make it to the West Coast for the short tour they did, so I'm praying they do a run on the East Coast later this year. It would be a crying shame if I didn't get to see these guys play live just once. Please Tom, I'm beggin' ya!

  • Great video. It makes me want to go buy the alblum. Been a TP and Heartbreakers Fan since DTTT alblum. Just recently wathced Runnin' Down a Dream and suggest it to those who have not seen it yet!

  • Tom Leadon was my guitar teacher!!!!!!! He always told me he used to play with Tom Petty before the Heartbreakers. I never believed him though. Guess I do now!

  • I pre-bought the cd before I heard any of the music. I knew it would be GREAT! I am native to the gainesville area and have always been a loyal fan. Keep making great music and we will keep supporting it.

  • I LOVE this video and can't wait for the release of Mudcrutch on the 29th!! Tom you are the COOLEST! Can't wait to see you at the Tweeter in Mansfield Mass. on June 14th!!!! Thank you for the all the great music you've shared with us over the years!

  • This is a great video-We saw him in Santa Cruz and it was awesome!

  • So Funny, So Fast, U R So Far Away . . .

    UKnoWhoIM

  • I LOVE Tom Petty for doing this! I'm so ordering this cd.

  • "He use to get drunk and call me late at night and tell me to go to hell..." LOL, I'm still laughing over that.

  • Awesome. Thanks so much guys for pulling this together. I'm looking forward to the Troubador on April 26!!

  • I went to UF 70-72 but visited friends a lot before that. I've remained a loyal fan through various incarnations: Mudcrutch, The Heartbreakers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Tom Petty, Tom Petty and Heartbreakers, Mudcrutch.

Just typing that, I realize the kind of 'circle of life' thing going on.

I sprung for the good seats in Tampa. I figure with you, Winwood (and you better bring stevie N), I couldn't go wrong.

Thanks for the great music: You are the Fla R&R hero Rob (Fla native)

  • Tom, you are a legend!!! I am coming all the way from the UK to Toronto to see you in June - say hi to Rachel and Jon!!

  • for me these guys are the real thing... "forget about the money, doesn´t count anymore, let´s make up a perfect Record just because we love the music".... when i see them and listen to the music the world somehow feels a bit better, jsut because i know there´s people out there who actually still care about making up good songs and melodies! We all should feel blessed to get the chance to hear that stuff! amen

  • what a cool EPK.

one that's actually interesting to watch.

    - justin
