  • At the end he's like "hey, I ain't done danceing yet! Hey ladies!"

  • @rosazone85 He does this ALLLLL the time at home. I dance with him until I'm about ready to drop from exhaustion, and then I think he just shakes his head in disgust at the fact that a human can't keep up with a bird!

    Irena Schulz

  • amazing bird lol at least evryone is having fun =D

  • tht bird is a riot!

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOVE YOUR BIRD SNOWBALL,HE MAKES ME LAUGH A LOT AND IS A VERY CUTE AND LOVING BIRD,I WISH I HAD ONE LIKE HIM...U ARE A PROUD MOMA LOL!....I LOVE WHEN HE GOES CRAZY WITH HIS HEAD LMAOOOO!

  • SNOWBALL DANCES TO HIS OWN BEAT AND DOES NOT NEED TO FOLLOW ANYONE. HE IS VERY SMART. ONE OF A KIND IN DANCING ABILITIES.

    WAY TO GO SNOWBALL!

  • there's only one snowball. i'd hate him to someday die. one of a kind.

  • @loley1901 Yes, he is very unique...

  • I would love to see snowball on "dancing with the stars" or "so you think you can dance"

  • @misstique08 well he certainly has more personality than some of those supposed "celebrities".

  • i think im dying of cute x3

  • I think hes just synchronizing with the lady, not with the music beat anyway

  • @lantidis He does synchronize with me as well. However, we already ran the scientific studies that proved that he synchronizes to the beat when no one dances with him. We took the same song and sped it up in 5% increments. He adjust his dance moves to match the faster beats.

  • there's no doubt about it. The little fella is grooving to the tune. It says something about the power of music eh? Music must be universal.

  • Snowball is great...a beautiful and amazing bird...I loved you Snowball!...

  • its crazy to see how well he moves with the tempo... im a dancer and lets just say... snowball knows how to dance more in tune with the tempo then alot of dancers i've seen :P amazing<3

  • @jaimeandcarmenshow He's definitely a better dancer than I am! LOL

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only

  • OMG he is still dancing! Go Snowball Go!

  • I wish i had this great bird...

  • It is nice to sit back and relax watching you videos..

  • i wonder if the backstreet boys seen it

  • @MegaAloha1234 Yes, the BSB have seen Snowball's videos.

  • @BirdLoversOnly Well? What did they say?

  • @swrdgrl They never contacted us, but they did say that they enjoyed the video of him dancing to their song. :D

  • I love this BIRD!!!

  • Wooowww, amazing, isn't it?

  • omg I cried from laugh XD

  • that is awsome

  • snowball rocks the house!!!!

  • forget gold, forget platinum, that bird is in a class way above! I love Snowball!

  • <3 God bless snowball and you too Irena! much love<33 An amazing bird with an amazing person:} love you guys!

    from florida!:D

  • Awwwwww!

  • 2:48 thumps up for Snowball's head bang!! :)

  • 4 people hate birds.

  • This video is a result of human evolution, lol :)

  • I love Snowball's dancing.....hahahaha! :)

  • im gonna buy the type of bird snowball is hes my favorite!

  • LOL give Irena a break. He dances best when she dances with him. So whatever you think of her dancing, Snowball thinks she's great!

  • very talented bird you have there can he come and teach me how do them lol

  • What is name this song ?

  • @Razy997 ''EVERYBODY'' --- BY THE BACK STREET BOY'S.

  • I love that he headbangs when he's delighted by something...

  • irena just keeps dancing! it's like she's on a loop! haha, i love snowball, and irena!

  • Watch 2:37 until the end of this clip. Hilarious!

  • White birds can dance. White people… not so much.

  • @7kire Yes, I'm guilty of being a lousy dancer. :D

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • @7kire You did great, Irena. Second best on stage! :D

  • @7kire LOL!

  • Snowball, you are my FAVORITE Rock Star! My Moluccan loves to watch your videos, your number 1 fan!

  • love the way he lifts his wee leg, its too cute

  • Whats even funnier is(coming from myself being a dance instructor) is that the bird seems to be playing with more than just the down beat. This takes a more trained ear and the average joe dancer cant disect the music on that level to dance on it then "resolve" it back on the percussion. SO LIKE I SAID THE BIRD IS A BETTER DANCER..LOL. He is hearing things in the music that the other people may not even be hearing depending on their knowledge of music. Amazing little creature...or LIL PERSON.

  • Jesus....the bird can dance better than the people..lol

  • Snowball has a lot of patience, training those people how to dance.

  • @2020wonderbred You've got THAT right!

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • @2020wonderbred aaaaahahahaha!!

  • Tudo é uma questão de carinho!!!

  • Did the original owner of the cockatoo ever asked his bird back?

  • @NinjaPr00 No, he has never asked to have him back. But he does come to visit once in a while.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • Lovely upload.

  • You can tell Snowball is enjoying himself! He's getting down!

  • Rock it, Snowball! Rock it!!

  • Too funny!!!! Luv it!

  • this is the most beautiful and moving

    thing i have ever seen

  • Can Snowball dance to the music without anyone in front of him? It appears the bird is mimicking what he sees, and not actually spontaneously dancing to the beat on its own.

  • @SZSearcher Yes, he does dance on his own. We've walked in on him dancing to tunes on his multi-disc CD player.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • @BirdLoversOnly Okay, I will be looking forward to seeing a video here he is dancing to tunes on his multi-disc CD player.

    Thanks.

  • Snowball is so much better with a dance partner!

  • I think I found the new dance instructor for my Cockatoo and Macaw. LOL

Such a riot, I love it. Cockatoo's are a special breed, so loving and affectionate. Mine has actually taught my Macaw to be more affectionate. They share the same cage and are best friends, My Macaw will swing back and forth to dance, but I am very impressed with Snowball.

  • Snowball's one in a million, I tell ya<3.

  • GOOD thing the bird has rhythm...LOL

  • LOL he is totaly showing off at the end of this clip. I have wanted one of these birds for a long long time they are just gorgeous when they put the crest up lol and they have a personality

  • FUNNY DANCING BIRD

  • hahaha epic rock and roll devil horns an head bang at 2;50. friggin awesome

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • that's freakin' awesome!!!x3

  • ah ma è famoso =D

  • He's so talanted at keeping the beat with the stomps of his feet. And his head movment is halarious! You must have trained him very well for him to be such a talanted cockatoo!

  • No training at all. He just loves to dance to music. When we travel, I dance with him because he is easily distracted by strange people nearby, lights, cameras, audiences. He focuses on me and is able to get into the music and not think about any strange people or objects around him. You should see Snowball in person...his dancing is only one part of his incredible personality!

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • omfg im laughing so much that birds a riot. love it :D

  • Yes, he is a riot. There is so much more to his personality than just the dancing. He is very rich in character!

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • I have to say, that is one amazing cockatoo. I honestly never believed that humans and Elephants were the only highly intelligent species on this planet. We find evidence that we are the less intelligent species every day and this video proves it!

No offense to anyone, I was just saying that we as humans need to stop being so blind. We have a lot to learn still.

  • You are so right! When Snowball and I lock eyes during dancing, I can actually see him analyzing what we are doing. If he doesn't like the way we dance together, he pauses, analyzes, and changes his dance step/routine. There have been times when I've had a chill run up my spine because of his cleverness. I can't help but believe that humans are the most destructive species on earth...not necessarily the most intelligent.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • Yea go snowball!

  • Now Snowball needs to train the human to study science a little harder after all her dancing.

  • He needs to teach me how to dance as good as he does. I'm too awkward. Elaine on Seinfeld was better!

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • Im ashamed to say im not a vegetarian. but snowball is one of many outstanding examples indicating many animals have a level of consciousness that suggests our relationship with the natural world as whole should be fundamentally different from what it is.

    Bit of a complicated sentence.

Touching post, though we do get more considerate and sentimental over animals who display human characteristics.

  • How incredibly sweet! Makes me think a lot of how much we possibly are destined to act as united lifeforms in a common way ... no scienceless romanticism intended here.

And, of course, a big big applause to Irena, who shows us more than an idea.

  • Thank you so much Irena for sharing the pleasure of Snowball with the world. I love to watch Snowball dance. I know nothing about cockatoos at all but love to watch yours. Many happy days with your beautiful little bird.

  • Thank you for writing such a sweet post! I really do love this silly little guy. I enjoy watching him have a genuinely great time dancing.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue

  • snowball is funny and loves the attention, lol!!

  • hujnia

  • I've seen a number of videos with dancing parrots, but Snowball is the first I've seen that actually seems to stay in beat with the music. Does Snowball have a hire level of intelligence than most Cockatoos?

  • The interesting part about his dancing isn't that he just stays in beat with a tune, but that if you slow it down and speed it up he adjusts to match the tempo. I don't think we have a way of measuring the level of intelligence of one bird verses another at this point. All I can say is that I can see him thinking and analyzing when I look him in the eye while dancing. Every once in a while he does something that astounds me enough to give me goose bumps.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only

  • I've been working with birds all my life and parrots in particular for 30 years. I have noted time and again their ability to analyze and think their way through situations that you know are not part of their normal environment. I especially love watching wild crows in a city environment. I now consider it a complement when someone calls me a bird brain.

  • I do have a question: does the owner have to dance alongside Snowball & Snowball is just imitating the owner? She seemed to have had to dance the entire time in this video. Is she dancing behind camera in all of the other videos? Just wondering. In which case it would just be imitative, not generated by the birdie. Just curious.

  • When there is an audience, I do dance along with him because he can be distracted by cameramen running around, laughter, applause, etc. When I am there to focus his attention on, then he becomes less distracted. During research experiments, I do not need to dance with him because there is nothing there to distract him from the music. I have music playing for him throughout the day and I will often find him dancing along when I walk in the room. Good question!

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only

  • Irena! I was completely blown away hearing back from you! You are a kind of rock star with Snowball! I so appreciate your answer. You ought to know, you are a darned good dancer yourself! Katie in Colorado

  • I am definitely not a good dancer. I cringe whenever I watch video of myself dancing. I loved the videos on your channel. Are you one of the singers?

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only

  • I think I know where the word cocky came from

  • the bird dances better than all of them

  • Im surprised Snowball hasnt been on Ellen! he should be

  • I would have LOVED to have taken him on her show.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only

  • i wish the cockatoo in my class can do that too rofl

  • Go Snowball!

  • He is way cute. Love the videos of him dancing.

  • Snowball is a total ham! :) I have a Goffin who loves to dance to "certain" music... If he hates it, he'll scream, if it is just so so, he'll listen, but if it's something he likes... Dance Time! I'm sure all Cockatoo owners could have told the science community a long time ago, if they would have asked, that it's not only humans and elephants that can feel a beat.... Our birds can too! ;)

  • awesome head banging!!!

    metalheads you eat his dust!!!!

  • I adore sNOWBALL = he can dance better than me! xxxx

  • I am Snowball 1# fan. When ever I need a smile on my face I just go to Snowballs videos and me and my u2 watch. I thenk she like to watch as much as I do. Maybe my Too will learn to dance..We say lets to the snowball!!

  • @bubblegumgirliex3 no i am! i love him!!! :D

  • wow, just like white people trying to dance

  • For your information, All of the White Cockatoos have black skin, just in case that is what you are referring to. The beak and feet are the same color as their skin. The white feathers just hide that fact.

  • :?

What's so scientific about dancing? Anyone can see that Snowball's just having fun (and that he is a total ham-bone)!

    Thanks for posting this!

  • It was formerly thought that only primates and elephants were able to feel a beat. That's why the science community is paying attention. :)

  • OMG! :p I should not belive this is a crowd of scientist! :p

  • How exactly should they respond? Snowball got it. You on the other hand missed it. Watch it until you figure it out.

  • Snowball is hosting a dance-a-thon fundraiser for needy children. We are raising money to purchase clothes and toys for them for Christmas. Please go to the Bird Lovers Only Rescue blog for more details. SNOWBALL NEEDS SPONSORS!

  • My mom has a parrotlette now, those little brats are bold!! The first one died in 2002, I came to visit and just before I came the bird flew down and the dog "played with it" and it died. He would never fly off, while sitting on his cage, as it was being cleaned (He'd sing while sitting up there) and decided to fly down and their year old dog pounced. They have another one but this one hats everybody it seems, Mr Grouchy!

  • Growing up we had African Greys (2 at separate times). Those birds are smart, but man, they love 1 person and hate everyone else :p!! That why we got rid of them, tried 2 different ones and same thing. My favorite parrots are quaker parrots. They love everyone, have that cute "tick" as I call it, and are beautiful. My mom used to ween (wean??) them and sell them. The yellow quakers are really cool, but so rare they cost as much as a car!

  • Parrots bond to one person and consider that favorite person their "mate." This is why it wants nothing to do with other people. Birds are very different from cats, dogs, and other animals. They are loyal to their mate and no one else. Parrots are very sociable and friendly to more people when they are babies, but as they go through adolescence and sexually mature they become very selective of who they want to be with. Some tolerate other people while some will literally attack others.

  • Dont most live long as well? I meant to say the rare quaker parrots are blue, not yellow :).

  • The different birds have different life spans. For instance, a cockatiel's normal life span may be approx 20 years, a conure's usual life span may be approx 30 years, an amazon's usual life span may be approx 50 to 60 years. A cockatoo's usual life span is 65+ years. Usually, the larger the parrot, the longer the lifespan.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only

  • Irena, I will have to correct you on this one. Many parrots will bond to one person only, but it's been my experience that many parrots will bond with multiple people if it is treated with loving kindness and full fill the need of the parrot. Our Umbrella Cockatoo Angel treats my wife and I and our son as part of his flock and makes the rounds every day going to each one of us for attention.

  • It's great to see someone as knowledgeable as yourself to offer good advice to those who are thinking of acquiring a bird. Although you are correct in that it is important to treat a bird with love and respect in order for it to be well-adjusted, I have seen many birds relinquished to us who did receive this love and respect but turned on their owners because they left for vacation. There are many other examples, but I have limited space.

Thank you so much for writing and sharing!!!

    Irena

  • Of course that might also be in part that I've taken him out in public all his life so he is very comfortable with most people. He chooses who he likes and dislikes and has gone to complete strangers with out reservation many times. I'm still trying to determine how he makes his choice about who he trusts or doesn't trust. I've have yet to see any parrot who doesn't readily go to my wife.

  • fenomenalno, da mi je jedng takvoga :)

  • Watching your videos makes me want to get my own parrot.. they seem like beautiful creatures! Had one when i was 4 years old, but it's all a bit vague then :) My mum is allergic to cats, so i guess this might be a good option.. hehe

Hilarious video though.. playing to the crowd at the end :D

  • I have the utmost respect for parrots. They are so human-like in their emotions and behaviors. They also have the intelligence of a five year old child. But imagine a 5 year old with a beak that can generate a pressure of 2000 psi and can snap a broomstick in half. They are also very needy and very demanding of attention. I adore parrots, but they are not for everyone...and even I find myself overwhelmed at times.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only

  • Ah, I thought he would dance all by himself in all the other vids, but he's only mimicking his keeper... Can he also dance all by himself?

coolest bird in the world tho!

  • Yes, he dances on his own.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue Service, Inc.

  • I can't help it, whenever I see Snowball dance, I immediately start bopping along!

  • WORLD'S coolest bird, literally!!

  • Pepperberg's really getting into it! :-)

  • need to get that bird a midi trigger perch so he can play his own grooves! Imagine if he could play with his feet and beak!

  • Is it able to follow a beat without being directed?

  • Yes. There have been scientific papers written about it. The lead scientist on the study, Dr. Ani Patel, came here to witness this for himself. He adjusts his dancing to the tempo of the music without anyone dancing with him.

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue Service, Inc.

  • 2:48 ahahhaha I love that xD

  • Simply one of the best images of inocence, love and care that i ever seen!

    Congratulations!!!

  • He is a charmer. And such a good performer.

  • The End without music is so funny :D

  • How cute is that!!!!

  • What an awesome bird!!!

  • Talk about a cherry video. Sure changed my blue day to a sunny one. Thanks so much Irena. ANd Dr. Pepperberg still has moves !!!!!!

  • Irene Pepperberg certainly holds her own! She was the one that came up with the idea to have everyone stand up and dance with Snowball. So she has a great sense of humor to boot!

Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue Service, Inc.

  • Snow Ball You rock!!!

  • makes tears come to my eyes

  • i want to meet snowball... how much does it cost to set up a dance off?

  • Love the foot-action Snowball uses! I love this bird! What a character! ;-)

  • Snowball is great and congrats on his move into commercials. For anyone who doesn't know Erich Jarvis, he is a phenomonal scientist who is also a professionally trained dancer. When he graduated from high school he was offererd a chance to audition for the Alvin Ailley Dance Company but chose college and Neuroscience. He is still a great dancer who also studies avian communication. Fascinating man.
