A truly flawless, or as close to flawless, as a climax for this movie could have gotten. Beating the Joker up didn't matter; hell, The Batman beat him half to death in interrogation and it didn't do him even a bit of good. No no, to 'win', he had to beat the Joker morally, philosophically. When he's able to pull through and do just that, it's then that he's earned the victory of robbing Joker of that satisfaction he'd had up till then. I think the fight scene here portrayed that perfectly.
