  • @silvawolf100 seaworld Orlando,Florida

  • But im afraid the traumatic time in his life he still carries. Dawn tried hard to build a trusting relationship with him, making sure he was fed well and constant interaction. Which is something the people at Sealand in Victoria Canada failed to do. Sealand was closed down a long time ago by the way.

  • Don't be so afraid of working with these amazing creatures. Everyone thinks about the incident with Tilikum but it's not like that with every orca that they have there. Tilikum had a very bad and traumatic upbringing when he was put in captivity. They deprived him as well as 2 other orcas of food for not displaying desired behavior. And also the 2 orcas Tilikum was with were territorial and tried attacking him many times. Seaworld tries their best to care and feed him properly.

  • Very true I'm officially a head trainer with the killer whales

  • @Calliewoody1 where at?

  • i was heading for being a orca trainer for sea world but since i herd about the orca killin its trainer i was like fuck that im goanna be a marine biologiest.I still love orcas though

  • @Orcabro95 you can still die even doing that.

  • @Silvawolf100 um how?

  • so is this a full time job? or a part time, like doing it while studying in university or something? all the trainers i see are beautiful, young women/men, what will happen to them in 20 years? they wont have the excellent health condition anymore...

but its so sad for me, there is no place like this in my whole province. i'd have to move to ontario or something...

  • @lovlyanime It is a full time position. Actually, even though the trainers may look young many of the ones seen in shows are parents and are older. In order to be in shows you have to work your way up from being an associates trainer, which takes years. They work out as a team to stay healthy.

  • Thanks!(:

  • I want to be a veterinarian for marine and zoo animals and I probably want to work at sea world. I was told majoring in animal science or pre vet-med at an undergrad college isn't recommended by graduate schools. I'm confused? I want to go to Cornell or UC Davis for vet school and undergrad but I don't know what to major in since I was planning on majoring in animal sciences and biology

  • @pmonkeys23 Well you know what i say? SCREW THEM. I majored in pre vet med. FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS pmonkeys23

  • @laurensmalter no i am not connected to SeaWorld. This is just what I've heard from talking to employees and attending a career camp there. If you really what to work at one of these parks, moving to the US would have to happen anyway so you could maybe come here to go to school. Also, you are definately correct about the experience thing. College degrees are a recommendation not a requirement. Try to get experience in anyway you can such as volunteering at an animal shelter or aquarium.

  • @armii941 when you get scuba certified you learn how to dive down 26 feet and the only way to swim faster is practice if you have a swimming pool near you or any body of water really and practice swimming lots of laps consistently you will get stronger and faster.. to help stengthen your lungs try swimming across the pool under water for as long as you can and push yourself farther everytime once you can go all the way across work on making it twice across.. hope this helps :)

  • No I don't want to be a seaworld trainer, I want to SHUT DOWN seaworld!!

  • @DansonHonda so why watch this video? no one likes a hater

  • @shamuroxy

no one likes people who supports captivity

  • @DansonHonda except fellow supporters of captivity :) no one likes an ignorant hater who judges something without getting all the facts first

  • I want to study animal management they say you can work at this kind of parks too. Is that true?

  • @fica400 no specific degree is required

  • I'm enjoying these humorous videos. New book asking the same question. "You Have A College Degree, Now What?"

  • @jesussaves011 psycology and animal behaviours are the majur not marine bio

  • @reebecca19 Any of those majors would work. A degree is recommended but not required.

  • whats this song called please ?

  • @reebecca19 something far greater by nancy coletti

  • No trainer or whale belongs there

  • @armii941 thats very cool!

  • @TuclucxLicada thats really uncalled for, wishing harm on someone.. i just dont know why people are this way even if you dont agree with us.

  • i cant wait when i graduate from collage and become a seaworld trainer! Orcas, any kind of dolphin, sealions, seals, what ever it takes because i know i want to be a trainer the most in the entire world! :D

  • What is Psychology?

  • @XD1RummerX psychology is the study of the human brain or animals minds:) it will help you learn why people/animals do what they do

  • @XD1RummerX it is the science of mental life and behavior

  • MME enCANATa SeAwoRLD

  • i do not know about you but i`m that per son in the world that wants to do it the most : )

  • @armii941 Just like oceanlover022 said, practice is key! Build up your breath holding abilities before you put them to the test underwater, because once you are able to hold your breath for a relatively long time, it'll be easier to complete the swim test. I just use the timer on my phone, and usually can hold my breath upwards of two minutes. It'll just make underwater swimming that much easier. The more you work at it, the better you'll get.

  • what is the name of this song? is perfect!

  • @blablablu123oi "Something Far Greater" from the Believe soundtrack. :)

  • I've got a question...do all these requirements count for whale, dolphin.seal, and sea lion training or does it count for a certain animal...ya know I should add this to my favorites so I can watch it again and write all this stuff down.

  • @Jessica76649 The requirements count for all of the animals in SeaWorld's animal training department. Take the Atlantic Bottlenosed Dolphins for example: the swim test is taken in the Whale and Dolphin Theater, as the dimensions of the Blue Horizons pool are almost identical to those at the Shamu Stadium show tank.

  • @Jessica76649 All of the trainers have to take this test no matter what. Also, you may not stay in one place your whole life. They sometimes move trainers to different animals.

  • I would state my dream as well.(free public media"..."that one day us "human"may leave other species alone, and respect them. That we humans, leran to appreicate thier beauty from a distance, and learn to respect thier bounderies...and have a more peaceful world. One thing lead to another and so forth,we have what we call"the world"..were getting better by the day!

  • my dream is to be a killer whale trainer at seaworld florida. but people at school think im crazy and think i will never succed in trying to get a job there but hopefully when im 18 im gunna prove them wrong !!! :) thanks for the infomation on this video it has been very useful :D

  • @hannahhazlehurst same here...except I wanna be a killer whale trainer at seaworld california cause I'd be closer to family.

  • @hannahhazlehurst Same here!

  • 52% of respondents reported marine-mammal-inflict-

ed injuries, 89% of injuries to hands, feet, arms,

    or legs; 8% on the torso/abdomen; 4%

on the face. 30%+ injuries were severe (90

cases) either a deep wound requiring stitches, or a

    fracture. Contact more than 50

days a year with enclosed marine mammals were several times

more likely to suffer a traumatic injury. Assessment

of the risk of zoonotic disease transmission to marine mammal

workers and the public. Naomi A. Rose PhD -2009

  • @metridium thanks for informing us.Some people are captivated by the beauty of the animals that forget about them all together! They suffer in these tanks. They are beuaitful and so deserved to be in the beuaitful wide ocean free!

  • @ot4kidz Thanks... and I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Respiratory diseases were also reported in nearly a fifth

of marine mammal workers, including diseases such as

TB. Exposure to marine mammals can

involve a health risk to people working with the animals,

but it can also threaten the health of the public. In an internationally distributed survey of people who

come into contact with marine mammals (primarily

those who work with these animals), 23 % of

respondents reported contracting a skin rash or similar

ailment. Naomi A. Rose PhD -2009

  • /Dude shut up! We are tired of your crap. Some of these things aren't even true. You aren't going to change any of our dreams. We will never give up, and we know the orcas have a good life. It may not be the wild, but what's done is done, we can't change it now.

  • @orkidluver97

I just wish they'd quit spamming their cause all over other peoples videos. NOBODY who watches these videos is taking them seriously. They need to start their own channel to promote their cause then maybe some people will at least listen to their side. Doing it this way, thru force, there's not a chance in hell. They're too self-centred to figure that out, though. Oh well, it's their wasted time.

  • Thank you for understanding!!!

  • @orkidluver97

You're welcome! Personally, I don't have a problem with captive animals, however, I understand that not everyone feels the same, which is fine and they are entitled to voice their opinion APPROPRIATELY. I have NEVER taken the side of anyone who preaches or trys to force their views on me. Insults and guilt trips don't work either, I just ignore them. Give me a rational argument in the right place and time and I'll most definitely listen. End of story.

  • @floridafantic28

Exactly, this is the way I feel too!!! And I think alot of people can agree with you. They can't change anything, and we can't change their views. And most of us don't try.

  • @Floridafanatic28 watch the cove.maybe that is retional for you?

  • @ot4kidz the cove is about japanese dolphin slaughter. it is nothing to do with seaworld.

  • do not be a trainer a whale drownned kklled its trainer

  • The MMC survey from the University of California discovered

that more than half of marine mammal workers had been injured

by the animals (251 cases) Those in regular contact

with marine mammals or involved with cleaning and repairing

enclosures were more likely to be injured. Trainers and dolphinari-

um staff are frequently injured, but these incidents are rarely

reported publicly. Naomi Rose PhD. 2009

  • Highly intelligent creatures, restrained to a small swimming pool instead of the ocean. Is it true that orcas live a lot longer in the wild than in these water cages?

it's like wearing a clown costume doing shows inside ones apartment, unable to leave the house or to speak with others, cause even if there is a fellow inmate, he doesn't speak my language.

It's your dream, I can understand that, but it's not theirs. Because you can go home after the show.

  • I'm in 8th grade but ive already decided i want to be a trainer (preferably for the sea lion show) more than anything in the world. do you have any advice or things i can start doing now to reach that goal?

  • I am also working on that! Practice is all I can say! You're lungs can only increaslce capacity by getting used to that kind of strain on them. You just have to build up the ability over time. I would go to a place that has a lap pool and try to swim as far as you can underwater and then trying again and this time try to go a little bit farther. 1 and 1/3 laps of a standard lap pool is the length you have to swim.

  • Oh right ok so when you say experience you don't mean like a quite high end job that you had had for a while or something?? Problem is it that theres not really and ranches in England and i have to be 16/18 to volunteer anywhere :(

  • I guess on e your 16 try and get whatever volunteer experienc

  • Experience you can at things like animal shelters

  • What is the song to this called and who is it sung by?

  • Something far greater by nancy coletti.

  • Thanks so much ! lol this video has like really boosted my confidence to beliveee (: x

  • So what sort of experience training animals would you need? Like a job before hand??

  • For example, you could work at a ranch with horses, or even volunteer at your local humane society for animal experience.

  • this is my dream...and i believe i can do it<3

i love animals no matter what kind...especially killer whales and dolphins. =)

  • this has seriously helped me. I am going to college to get a degree in marinebiology and take psychology, once after that I plan on taking up my dream of 10 years to become a whale trainer at Seaworld. Thank you for posting this.

  • if you really want to be a trainer dont take Marine Bio, being a trainer and Marine Bio really are not the same thing reply bk if you want more info or send me a message!

  • What should i major in if marine biology doesnt help. Are you a trainer?

  • Psychology is what most of them major in. However, if you want to be a trainer, but want to work woth marine life no matter if you become a trainer or not, you could do a double major in psch and marine bio.

  • A lot of trainers do major in Psychology and a lot also come from Exotic Animal Training and Management from Moorpark College in Cali.

Marine Bio is for studying the things in the ocean, yes you could work with dolphins but: Marine biology is the scientific study of living organisms in the ocean.

You already know what training is, so there is the difference. Two totally different fields, feel free to reply would love to hear more!

  • so psychology is the the study of the mind? I live in florida and there are tons of marine schools around so thats what automaticly came to mind as a major for being a trainer.

  • correct it is the study of the mind basically.

now i dont want to say you MUST have psychology, to say work at seaworld, you honestly dont even need a degree but its best if you do.

I would say do what you want to do if training did not work out maybe get an AA or AS degree for training and a BS or BA in something else that you want.

at SWF there is a trainer that has a background as a news reporter, so it is not like you MUST have a certain degree.

Also I live in Orlando, how about you?

  • there are no schools i can think of that offer psychology in the state of fl. so im guessing im just going to take marine bio at FAU. I live like 5 mintutes from there, i could walk! i do have another year or two to think about it since im only a sophomore in highschool. but i have dreamt about being an orca trainer since i was about 13. don't think i'll ever change my mind about being a trainer, im practically obsessed with this adorable creatures:) do you go to seaworld often?

  • FAU offers Psychology with a BA, almost every college now offers that program.

I go to SW when ever I can.

Also just to let you know I will probably be going to Cali. for the EATM Program at Moorpark College, then coming back to cent FL, and attempt to get my BS in meteorology at FIT.

    Just a side note :)

  • I would love to go to Moorpark College, but my parents have me on a Florida Pre-Paid, so I have to go to a in-state college. Are you going to school to be a Orca trainer also? And are you already a college student?

  • I would be going to become a trainer yes, no i am not a student.

    Currently in HS

  • I talked to my parents and I had the whole florida pre-paid thing wronge. My dad told me that what ever money I dont use up he gets to keep. So he said I can got to moorpark college if i really wanted to. Im first going to duel enrol at the community college to get my first 2 years out of the way. Then I will attend Moorpark. This summer im also going to the career camp seaworld offers, I havent decided which week though.

  • I said marine life meaning all living organisims. As in if she wanted to work with marine life (including plants ect.) she could major in marine bio and pysch. I personally am going to major in zoology and psych.

  • @OrcaTrainerOrlandoFL im in high school and been wanting to do this sense 5th grade. i live in California and want to go to Moorpark college to study zoology and maybe enter the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program. but is zoology the best course to take for this? [ANY HELP?]

  • @carmenmm1992 "We cannot glimpse the essential life of a caged animal, only the shadow of its former beauty." ~ Julia Allen Field

  • is this 1 4 Orlando?

& wat degree do u need?

  • The requirements are the same at all the Sea Worlds and I would recomend a degree in psychology, animal behavior, marine, biology, zoology or a realted field. However the majority of trainers have majors in psychology.

  • what was the rest to number 8?

  • A degree in a related field. Sorry about that. :)
