this isn't a difficult issue. The players can play for either Ireland or N ireland because of ISC ruling. N ireland wanted their own soccer team, they got it with the stipulation that the people born could play for either north or republic as the ISC wanted a WHOLE COUNTRY team like in rugby.
This wasn't accepted, the rules came in this way, it is your own doing.

All citizens like myself born in the North should be entitled to play and support the Republic of Ireland. Afterall, I own an Irish passport which declares me an Irish citizen.
If North of Ireland supporters weren't as bitter and twisted towards some of its players and sported a more suitable national anthem, maybe the players would stay.

To be fair, the ROI have a track record of using the Granny Rule already so using an International treaty to get players isn't exactly beneath them. But I would point out the following: The use of "God Save Our Queen" as an anthem is not indicative of a national identity when "Londonderry Air" is there for use. However, I also would point out my problems with using the resources and time of an organisation and then getting lost. Choose early on for whom you wish to play for and stick with them.

I'm a Northern Ireland fan, We qualified for 2 World Cups in the 80's, 82 and 86, In 82 we beat Spain the host nation. Republic didn't have a decent side until the late 80's early 90's.
