Great video.... Btw, AAU has their fashion degree classes online too, so you can do that and then transfer into FIDM or anywhere else. They are also the only school that shows at NY Fashion Week (AAU).

u have the passion.. but those canson sketch book is really expensive.. u shouldnt waste it by writing " my fashion sketches" try to get to some art school , we dont really focus on the face... or how nice u draw... the most important is the idea... i mean u dont have to draw so detail. just go line here n line there and u already made a design..

FIDM came to my school and my friends dad is a speaker for them and he really showed me that you can reach your goals even if they seem impossible. Im 15 now and ive been interested in this but didnt know how to get started. im planning on working on my sketching and i will get better. thanks dulce

Here in Portugal we have a magazine that brings patterns in , Burda style and in some magazines and newspapers shop I can find the spanish and french burda I don't now if where you are exist but I think that burda magazine is easy to understand the patterns and have very cute designs... sadly I don't have a sewing machine but I already cut some pattern .. ^-^'

@RaSaUsproductions Ask your mom is she is going to pay your bills,house,clothes,light bill,party life, car payments and everything you will need to pay as you get older and are on your own. Your going to have to make a life for your self and take of your self and after the family you may have one day. no one can tell any one how to earn there own living.
yeah, in my school we have electives, and one of them happens to be "clothing" .. my freshman year, my first project in class was a satin dress red with polka dots haha with an open back, so cute for my first dress !

You are so young and full of pasion, that's good, but some of yours opinion are not quite correct. Sorry about my english (I've just learned from 2 years). I suggested you do not take examples from magazines and the internet. Try to create your own style, don't be a copiest (is it exist a word like that?) like many others.
and California Apparel News. Stay away from FIDM. 80% of their students drop. Those Debut shows are only the crème of the crop. Not everyone is like that. Dont invest in that mannequin. Its only half of a body. You can get a good mannequin at Jo-ann for like 150. Sorry, Im hardcore into this industry and I dont like it when people say things that can lead people in the wrong direction.
Ok. So I have some pointers in your videos. I'm a fashion designer as well (I have a very extensive resume to back me up) and some of aren't really correct. I get it that you're young and starting out in fashion (I'm 22 years old so I'm not that much older then you I don't think, but I worked my ass off to make a name in my area and network myself) but speak on the perspective of industry instead of yourself. The best you can get is a Bernina. Hands down. Also invest in Womens Wear Daily
how do you use the cuttin board? I am beginning to sew.. I will be attending fashion design school starting this summer.. any tips, advice, hints.. anything you have that will be helpful is needed...
I do the same thing with the fashion clippings.. like I love a lot of things form Dolce and Gabbana.. the colors, shapes and everything is awesom... also saw somewhere that they use 8 heads.. is there a difference between using 8 or 9 heads?

Nice Vid! I'm about to be a senior studying fashion. I suggest u use prisma color markers! they look really nice on sketches. also if u use microns for details. But anyways is just really nice 2 see someone that's not even in school 4 fashion but still devotes so much time to it :D....cuz believe me is VERY HARD, but if u love it u'll be fine! And is so good u have a clipping file!!!

too bad that i have to disagree with some of your opinion, first, it's almost necessary to go to school, good one, to be a good fashion designer unless you are a super duper fashion genius. Also, sketching ability is really really really really important because it is the method you can deliver everything about clothes that you are going to make, very very important. i see that you have to practice a lot on sketching.

I design handbags and the way I started (I'll try to make it short) was I received a sewing machine one Christmas and made a handbag, well one day I wondered into a boutique and the owner happened to be there and liked my handbag and asked me to make some for her boutique, they sold quickly, and that's how I got started in this. I hope all your Dreams Come True, STICK WITH IT and don't let anything or anyone get in your way ! P.S. Love your sketches ! You should Frame the First one .

It´s not necesary to start a scketch like that (the 9 heads) because i saw another video from a real fashion designer and she didn´t start her scketch like that! im just giving some tips!

Your going to have to make a life for your self and take of your self and after the family you may have one day. no one can tell any one how to earn there own living.

yeah, in my school we have electives, and one of them happens to be "clothing" .. my freshman year, my first project in class was a satin dress red with polka dots haha with an open back, so cute for my first dress !

if you go to threadbanger, they use a t-shirt and duct tape to make a mannequin exactly your size.
It's DIY project and wayy cheaper. you should check it out!

You are so young and full of pasion, that's good, but some of yours opinion are not quite correct. Sorry about my english (I've just learned from 2 years). I suggested you do not take examples from magazines and the internet. Try to create your own style, don't be a copiest (is it exist a word like that?) like many others.

and California Apparel News. Stay away from FIDM. 80% of their students drop. Those Debut shows are only the crème of the crop. Not everyone is like that. Dont invest in that mannequin. Its only half of a body. You can get a good mannequin at Jo-ann for like 150. Sorry, Im hardcore into this industry and I dont like it when people say things that can lead people in the wrong direction.

Ok. So I have some pointers in your videos. I'm a fashion designer as well (I have a very extensive resume to back me up) and some of aren't really correct. I get it that you're young and starting out in fashion (I'm 22 years old so I'm not that much older then you I don't think, but I worked my ass off to make a name in my area and network myself) but speak on the perspective of industry instead of yourself. The best you can get is a Bernina. Hands down. Also invest in Womens Wear Daily

how do you use the cuttin board? I am beginning to sew.. I will be attending fashion design school starting this summer.. any tips, advice, hints.. anything you have that will be helpful is needed...
I do the same thing with the fashion clippings.. like I love a lot of things form Dolce and Gabbana.. the colors, shapes and everything is awesom... also saw somewhere that they use 8 heads.. is there a difference between using 8 or 9 heads?

Nice Vid! I'm about to be a senior studying fashion. I suggest u use prisma color markers! they look really nice on sketches. also if u use microns for details. But anyways is just really nice 2 see someone that's not even in school 4 fashion but still devotes so much time to it :D....cuz believe me is VERY HARD, but if u love it u'll be fine! And is so good u have a clipping file!!!

too bad that i have to disagree with some of your opinion, first, it's almost necessary to go to school, good one, to be a good fashion designer unless you are a super duper fashion genius. Also, sketching ability is really really really really important because it is the method you can deliver everything about clothes that you are going to make, very very important. i see that you have to practice a lot on sketching.

Hi. I design handbags and the way I started (I'll try to make it short) was I received a sewing machine one Christmas and made a handbag, well one day I wondered into a boutique and the owner happened to be there and liked my handbag and asked me to make some for her boutique, they sold quickly, and that's how I got started in this. I hope all your Dreams Come True, STICK WITH IT and don't let anything or anyone get in your way ! P.S. Love your sketches ! You should Frame the First one .
