The writers wanted to come up with a character who had a TERRIBLE act, and thus Lew Zealand the Boomerang Fish Throwing clown was born. Apparently Gonzo wasn't pulling off the "tasteless" act routine enough, right?
Lew Zealand is a hilarious muppet, no matter who voices him, sort of reminds me of a crazy Ernie. I love his boomerang fish act, but his singing fish act is good too. I wish though Lew Zealand and Marvin Suggs paired up, and do an act together, that would be awesome.
One good question I have is who will be performing the ancient characters that we thought would never be seen again; Beautiful Day Monster, Bobby Benson, Droop, Link Hogthrob, Marvin Suggs, Thog, Uncle Deadly, Wayne & Wanda?
Brian does seem like a good Droop, I actually think he'd be a better choice than Matt.
I don't know what characters Alice Dinnean performs & if Kathryn Mullen (who did her in the Linda Laven episode) isn't a puppeteer for the movie, I guess Alice would be good.
& Beautiful Day, I think if Peter does his voice he did for Theo the Lion that seems perfect. Theo's because I think we ALL hope Beautiful will be in his "You got anythin' cheaper?" personality.
@TheaterServant It seems most likely. He's been the go-to guy for most of Frank Oz's characters, & in one of the Ask ToughPigs, Ryan said, & I quote, "I really can't imagine anybody else doing a better Marvin Suggs than Eric. I think he has that kinda sound that's so close to Frank's" end quote.
@TheaterServant I think that Bill, Matt, and Jerry are all good for Lew Zealand. Obviously Jerry is the best, and Matt sounds more like Jerry than Bill does. But Bill is one of my favorite Muppet performers, and I think that he has done a fine job when performing Lew in the past.
And I'm sure that no matter who performs him in the new movie - whether it be Bill, Matt, Eric, Steve, Brian, Dave, or WHOEVER - the movie will be great, and the performance will be just fine.
@Garrettk41 That Bill's gonna perform Lew in the new movie. Did you see him performing him at the El Captian theater for "Life's a Happy Song" or are you just guessing?
@Garrettk41 IMDB is wrong A LOT though. Last year they had it posted that Bill Barretta performed Dr Teeth, Rowlf, and Swedish Chef in the Muppets Christmas Carol. Bill Hadn't even joined the Muppets at the time that movie was made. I had to go in and completely rewrite their cast list because it was all wrong. So I wouldn't be too sure of their casting list for this new movie either....
@MuppetVoicesAndMore Really. Well, it's good that you fixed that mistake. IMDb generally tends to keep better track of upcoming movies. The way I see it, they're right until they're proven wrong.
Lew Zealand, probably the literal definition of a "one-joke character".

@antsamthompson9 Yes, he does. Look at the latest one. It came out today. Its titled "THE MUPPETS - Full Trailer 2011" Floyd talks near the end.

@MuppetVoicesAndMore Thanks. I just saw it. It got me very exited to se the movie.

@MuppetVoicesAndMore Those ARE good guesses of who'd perform who. If I may...
I know Steve performed Link in video games but I haven't heard it, but I guess Steve's better than Bill.
I knew Eric would be Marvin, after the second Ask ToughPigs.
Wayne & Bobby Benson? I actually hope Tyler Bunch performs them. His Sesame announcer/narrator voice sounds similar to them.
Thog I think will be Matt Vogel, but I think Kennedy'd be a good Thog. Same applies for Uncle Deadly.

That's personally what I think.

@ZNKChannel Regarding Wanda, I think Leslie Carrera-Rudolph would make a great Wanda.
disneynut06 5 months ago
@disneynut06 Possibly. I don't actually remember Leslie doing any operatic voices like Wanda, but we'll all have to wait until the 23rd.

@MuppetVoicesAndMore Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'd say Jerry is the best.
By the way, it seems Bill's the one who will be playing Lew in the Muppet movie coming this November.
Garrettk41 10 months ago
@Garrettk41 Yeah... if you look at my facebook page, you'll see that there was recently a big discussion about that between myself and a few viewers.

@Garrettk41 That sucks. Because Matt does a better Lew than Bill.
antsamthompson9 9 months ago
@antsamthompson9 don't jump to conclusions. it also says in muppets from space that bill voiced dr. teeth but it was really john kennedy
TheaterServant 9 months ago
@antsamthompson9 Yes, I agree. Though with good luck, Bill may do better this time around than he did in the Merry Muppet Christmas Movie.
Garrettk41 9 months ago
@Garrettk41 or with better luck Matt will be voicing Lew, along with Crazy Harry, Fozzie's mom, Robin, Camilla, Floyd, Crazy Harry, & maybe even Pops
TheaterServant 9 months ago
@TheaterServant Well, it appears that the voice cast of the movie is pretty much set in stone. Sometimes we have to just settle for the second best.
Garrettk41 9 months ago
@Garrettk41 maybe, but I'm not thinkin about that as a definite decision
