  • Watching the training rounds, you get an idea for what artillery was like before exploding shells were developed. A nice little taste of the 18th century :P

  • So, they can shoot. I can train a chimp to shoot Tank Table VIII.

How good are they at drinking?

  • No they're not missing. the sabot training rounds go through the plywood targets like its paper so it looks like they're missing.

  • i'm confused. did they miss more then 1/2 of their shots? that can't be right.......

  • @val28l i can see what you are talking about but not they dont it just looks like they so :P

Dont forget they are shoot at plywood targets.

    source, im a tanker

  • very good video..

  • watching this brings back so many memories...the last time I was on that range we scored 912 back in '92. damn I miss that shit!

  • are these real rounds ?

  • Going to my first gunnery in may as a loader. Gonna earn them boots

  • BFBC2 -> m1 better visibility than t90 = m1 better tank

  • I miss Graf. Been to that training area many times. 3rd Bn 35th Armor with both M-60A3's and M1A1's.

  • TARGET! Yeah! That's how tankers RAWK!!! Thanks for posting.

  • on of the most overated tank

  • @ukrainesuperpower87 Is that what your leaders tell you?

  • @ukrainesuperpower87

    Not overated.

The M1A2 Abrams is the best tank in the world.

  • @ukrainesuperpower87 no, its one* of the best if not the best tanks on the battlefield currently.

  • @ukrainesuperpower87 It's highly rated because it has performed so well in COMBAT, you know, where it fucking counts.

  • @Redmanfms against arabs?

  • 1:16 = best clip ever.

  • Well done

  • the most poweful vehicle on earth. Isn't she beautiful?!

  • How far can the Abrams shoot effectively? 1,2,3, miles?

  • Great vid, I never got the chance to work in an M1.I was going out in 1987 as they were coming in.

This is not a rip ,but I don't recall missing so many targets.

One of the fears the Soviets had of the US Army, was our efficiency with munitions. When we fired, we killed. There is not much, more manly than manning a battle tank. I highly recommend it.

  • haha .. I remember that gunnery . ( B CO 1-35 66D Hooahh Blackjack, btw alfa co we saw your fugging on the gunnery score cards no way you got top company and plt gunnery ). Ahh the memories. .. .replaced my GPS 3 times that rotation in 2 days. Among other gremlins in the turret

  • always missing....

  • I didn't see any...idiot.

  • nice shooting

  • i want 2 be a tanker so bad wicked vid =) 5/5.

  • The projectiles don't blow up because they're not explosive. HEAT training rounds (TP-T) are filled with concrete. Sabot training rounds are steel coated tungsten. Also, training rounds are not APFSDS, they are TPCSDS-T: Target Practice Cone Stabilized Discarding Sabot - Tracer.

The M865 TPCSDS-T training round actually has a higher muzzle velocity (1,700 m/s) than the newest sabot (M829A3 - 1,550 m/s). So, definitely not low velocity.

  • guter schütze :))))

sollte mal mit APFSDS ballern lernen

  • ahh its the plywoodians as my CO would say!! lol Dang i love the vid remins me of my time in Korea at Rod Range!!

  • Was with Bravo 2/72AR ..."DEUCE TANK!" from June 1995-June 1996. I pretty much lived on Rodriguez Range and loved every min of it. Meet you at Fiddlers Green when its all over Troop.

  • damn I aint heard that in a long time . .. thanks for the memory.

    B Co 1-35 AR ( now 4-70th AR )

  • love the M1s

  • the rounds go through the targets without exploding because they're using armor piercing rounds there and yes they are using low velocity rounds.

luger87, gunner leo2 from swiss army

  • well thats cool that your a gunner in the swiss army, but in the US army for tank gunnery we dont shoot actual tanks down range. they are plywood targets in the shape of a tank on a small rail track to move them back and forth. the rounds are training rounds.

  • umm they arent exploding because there tracer rounds..............

  • Surely they aren't shooting APFSDS? The projectile looks like it has low velocity.

  • the reason there is no penetration is because the ammo they are using is training munitions not sabot or heat. THE AMMO's job is not to penatrate hardend targets but to show the accuracy of the tanks firing controls with the gunner and commander.

  • they are hiting it, look more closely, its not a real tank, its going trough it. like shoting at a paper target with a gun.

  • nice timing with the music

  • is it normal they can't hit a single target ?

  • Yes, they're scoring hits. The training rounds are going straight through the plywood targets and hitting the ground behind them.

    A Co. 2/37 Armor, Vilseck 1989-90

  • they are hitting, it just goes straight through and hits the ground behind.

  • they're training, so yes that is normal when you first start out :)

  • Read the below replies first so you'll know the answer before posting.

  • they probably the rounds they're using Armor Piercing which is like a knife into butter for the targets so it just goes through them

  • It takes them a while to get the right ballistic sollution

  • Almost every shot is a hit. Projectiles pierce dummy silhouettes so effortlessly that you don't see any effect on the target other than a hole which can't be seen on this low quality, low resolution video

  • When was the last time you saw a paper target blow up from being hit by a 120mm SABOT round?

  • theyre going through the target cos they arent hard enough to detonate the round

  • cuz the targets are plywood the round go right through

  • nice video love how ya got the recieveing end of the rounds, I was in old 1/63 in vilseck back in the day. Seen alot of Graf & Hohenfels too. Good shit bro.

  • I thought the Abrams was acurate. Why is it missing and how come the rounds are not penetrating?

  • there ply wood targets. the round just punches thrugh like paper. The target then gose down after a hit. The dirt kick up is behind the target. These were all solid hits.

  • the targets are paper and the rounds just go right through them.

  • yea i was with C 1-35 but i left in summer 07. Good ole baumholder lol!! yea did 2 gunnerys up in graph!! now im sittin here at knox wishin i was back in germany!!

  • is the abrams like a modern tiger?

  • What is the name of this song?

  • LAST GRAF!! This ALMOST makes me miss the old days commanding an m1 a-nothing! They were so new then my tank's data plate said Xm-1! Neat vid. URRAHH!

  • Dude, I did MANY Graf and Hoensfels rotations back in 97-00 with 1-37 1st BDE, great vid. Wish you had got some of the night fire stuff though!

  • wow this tank is killin..

  • I was in A 1/35 armor in baumholder Germany and remember many times going to gunnery. Had my head under a Humvee once when the range went hot and heard the first round go down range for the morning and smacked my head on the exhaust.

  • Hah .. baumholder aka the Rock ( or if you really knew it . . the @ss h0le of europe ) B 1-35 all the way

    HOOOAAHHH BLACKJACK

  • Finns are better.. ;)

  • that was an awesome video!! you did a great job of putting the music and video together.

  • night fire with the 120 can light up a valley, great sight to hear and see, Scouts Out

  • i have been looking for a video showing the rounds travel downrange like this for so long, and today it just popped up on my recommended list.

  • RPG-7 destroyed it in Iraq

  • In 2 years, I will be driving one of these.

  • German tank gun.

  • holy shit those otherfucker sabots were deflecting like hundreds of feet in the air holy shit

  • this was a great crew and a great tank you cant compare to any other tank

  • What's the name of that music? Been to Graf way back in the M60A1 and A3 days--early 80s. Also have been to Wild Chicken (Wildflecken) and Bergen Hohne.

  • Abrams is in a class of its own. No tank can stand up to it.

  • Awesome

  • in war games abrams has been on top for a couple years now

  • I love being a M1 Abrams main battle tank commander!

  • army or marines? just curious cus i want to join the marines, but i want to be a tanker and the army has the M1a2, but i really want to be a marine...help!

  • Since the crew is more important than the tank..id say Israel has the best...but concerning technology..its germany

  • you are an idiot

first of all, what qualifies you to say Israeli tank crews are better? Secondly, the Leopard is claimed to be "better" than the M1 because it is more fuel efficient and cheaper to produce. The M1 would kill it in the field though

  • Excume me sir...but everybody knows that Leopard2A6 is better armored and more expensive...and they both use the same 120mm gun that of course IS GERMAN!

  • With its german made Maingun - rofl...

  • "idiot"? What an itelligent way of discussing...

So what qualifications do you have to say one or the other is better?

In a test conducted by the swedish army, the Leo 2 won over M1, Leclrec, T-80 and Challenger. They choose the overall best tank. It is a fact.

BUT, comparing western tanks and saying which is best is for idiots, becasue they are more or less indentical, same gun (German Rehinmetal), same armor (UK Chobham)... Yes, M1 has DU armor, but that can be put on any tank.

  • Yeah we just got some L2A6M's in afgainistain and they say there great but not as good as the M1's

  • @jeo134 equally the M1 itself would be killed by many modern battletanks

  • @jeo134: The Leopard 2 is more fuel efficient, but the Cost of the M1 is lower than the Leopard 2!

The M1A2 Abrams costs about 4 Million $ The Leopard 2A6 like 6,5 Million $

But the M1 has still better Firepower, and a greater Max. Range of Fire.

The Abrams with ARAT II Reactive Armor has an RHA Value of over 1000mm!

  • @jeo134 M-1 is better than leopard and merkava

  • you are retarded...

  • I think the American crew is better cause they get more training, since they could be wasting $4.35 million if the crew doesn't get sufficient amount of training. And the Abrams can stand multiple RPG hits.

  • US and UK tank crews are the most combat hardend on earth. the tanks they drive are the most combat tested, and the M1 has killed all other tanks in war games.

  • is that ringold GA?? cause it shure looks like it

  • i like this vid!!

    great music and so..

(hmm living not far away from grafenwöhr and hear you guys sometimes even shoot xD)

  • 2:02 FTW!

  • nunuhulze, even you have to admit that the abrams are the toughest tanks ever built

  • the russian black eagle is the best ,beter than the leopard 2

  • The Black eagle is just a T-80UM2 hardly better than a Leopard 2 or M1 or a Challenger 2

  • abrams rulzz

  • is he missing?

  • No jump audio to hear fire commands? Oh well, it'll sound like Chinese to some non-tanker.

    Gunner Sabot Tank.

  • does anybody know the music, the name?

  • requiem for a dream. is where its from.

  • i like how you can see the richoshets

  • Leopard ist the best tank...everybody knows

  • The Leopard 2 has a better drive train with the low IR diesel engine but has inferior protection when compared with the Abrams. US tank units have better IT/COM capability than anyone in the world.

  • It isn't just the tank, but the crew. The US Army has the best trained tank crews in the world. I'd bet on them against any other armored formation from anywhere.

  • No way M1 Abrams is the best. And till the leopard won't prove itself better (maybe against an Abrams) then the M1 will be the best tank built ever. The only disadvantage of Abrams that it's expensive and it eats a lot...

  • awesome

  • Nice, thx for making this vid! We all know Abrams are the best!

  • great vid man
