Both of you need to do your math. Power to weight ratio is everything. The second most important thing is a linear power curve. For example, take two civics. One puts down 300hp the other 200hp. If the 300hp civic is turbo and does not have a linear power curve where the 200hp does, they MAY be equal in drag times. Traction has to do with low/mid rpm TQ and wheel diameter, not HP.

i believe 291whp, but for future reference. The term WTQ is impossible. Changing from 1st to 2nd changes your tq output by a ratio equal to the change in gear ratio. So to increase wtq, it just down shift, or put smaller gears on it. That is why the term Hp is used. IT defines an amount of wheel tq to a given velocity. Everycar can make 280wtq in the right gear. But to make 280wtq at 200mph is a lot different than that at 20mph. that "wtq" number is probably crank or totally useless
for example. A simple civic in 1st gear has more than 1000lbs of tq. How else do you break axles? Such as hell aint 110lbs of tq. It multiplied becuase overal. in 1st, the tires are rotating 16 times slower than the crank. which means. wihtout losses, it will have 16 times thw tq output at the crank. in a gear where the tires rotate the same speed as the crank. will net a "wtq" the same as crank. do the math, thats round 400mph i think. so with gearing that you can do around 400mph is the time..
when you will have your crank tq= wheel tq. so a civic going around 350mph, will actually have the crank tq at the wheel. around 95lbs becuase of tranny losses ect. ignoring wind resistance, one could imagine how slow it would accelerate. Notice that this is = to the amount of tq required for a lug nut. Comparing both ( assuming both cars can move freely) one will notice that they will accelerate the same amount ( g forces) but in 1st gear, tq output is much greater than crank.. thank GOD
and so. IF you do the math. one a 8,000hp dragter. I would guess around 50,000lbs of tq is made at the tire....Look at the tires in slow mo... can't deny it..
