I try to download certain files, but not even with guides can I get them to work. In fact, the best thing about Linux is that it's virus-free. I don't have windows anymore sadly.

yep the only thing I needed my system to have is fucking snow. Go linux, yayyyy. Linux is great os but compiz and water effects which ate ur fps as we can see in the movie are maybe cool but do not increase the productivity and usability of using the os. Windows GUI is pretty simple and that is it's strenght. It is not bloated as hell with pointless efects distracting its user. It is design to keep the user focus where the user wants it and looks pretty nice too.

you can download them off the internet, and most of them support the 3D desktop program now called Compiz. The Linux OS I commonly use is Linux Mint, it has this and supports many video cards, but your card has to have a little bit of power, if you machine supports full Aero from Vista or windows 7 it will do Compiz almost certainly. Just right click on the desktop and go to "change desktop background" then to "visual effects" then go to "extra".

I run this on Windows XP, and on Vista. Several programs do this for PC. Topdesk for one. Yeah, Linux is awesome though. Windows 7 is combining a lot of Linux features with Mac features onto the PC. It's really cool, and it's still in Beta. Go download the Beta for Windows 7 and check it out.

Personally I think it slows down productivity, especially waiting for the anims to finish when you hit max / min / whatever. LXDE + KDE ftw. It looks pretty but gets old REALLY FAST. I've used Linux in varying distros for 5 or 6 years now and this is the LEAST valued app I've seen. But it does pull in the girls who like a "pretty" desktop. Oh well.
