This song came on when driving home from the hospital when my daughter was born. I hadn't heard it for at least 10 years before that moment. The universe is a strange wonderful place.
The best moments of my life was holding my baby girl after she was born.A little ray of sunshine had come in to this world and has given her parents so much happiness.
Lovely to see this clip again. I worked at Channel 9 Adelaide from 1978 to 1998. The building and verandah the band is standing on is an old Methodist Church that was used as a store room back then.It is was done up some time ago and is now the Channel 9 canteen. It's a real shame that Channel 9 is now just a relay station they used to do some many wonderful local productions. Crust.
we dedicated this song to our daughter 29 yrs ago, being blonde and blue eyed etc, etc perfect for her and now she has her own daughter not a week old, we have posted this song on facebook for her, with tears of pride and a full heart thanks you brian and all of axiom i was 10 when this song was released and i loved it then, still love it now!!
did you know that the foo fighters last 3 albums were written about what i have discovered. dont believe me? many songs have been written about my theory which has gone around the world. read my 2 comments below to find out why. i am not lying. honest. you may have to press "see all" to find both of them. regards from west beach burnie tasmania.
i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.
so far i have had eliminations at days 504, 840, 1176, 1512, 1848, 2184, and expect my 7th at day 2520. today is day 2318. i have definitely found something. i am not lying. what i have discovered has gone around the world and many songs have been written about it. the foo fighters last 3 albums..."vertigo" by U2 (my first name is phil)..coldplays last 2 albums etc. an elimination is a day when you experience strong flu-like symptoms and feel terrible. bad stuff is washed out of your body.
my dad and i were driving home from my aunts house the other day, and this came on the radio. he pulled over put his hand on mine and said ' this is your song'
this is the song my mum played when she brought me home from the hospital and it is also the song my mum played when i bought my baby girl home from the hospital.
this song is what my dad used to sing to me all the time and the crazy thing is that every single word is like me. i have blonde hair, i look like my dad, the first dress my grandma bought me was pink and people say i have a smile that makes people happy instantly :) i love you dad so much and i miss you because when i listen to this song it reminds me of you, rip ♥
this song has a special meaning as we played it at my daughters funeral Hayley Anne Dixon 27-05-01~02-09-02. it was picked by her poppy & everytime i hear it, it makes me cry!
so did my dad, this was his song for me... funny thing is i did/do look like my dad and I do have blonde hair... Naturally... :-) sadly my dad killed himself in 2002 aged 48.. I was 29..so this song has extraspecial meaning to me.
My all time favourite song since the birth of my beautiful little girl now two and a 1/2 years old. To all the fathers of little girls out there, is there nothing more precious in life. I almost tear up every time I hear this.
An amazing coincidence in time & place, which I just stumbled over ! This Channel 9 Adelaide clip was filmed in the courtyard outside the old church, which in more recent years was the NWS9 canteen. Right at the end of the clip, you'll see host & my old 5KA colleague Vince Lovegrove of 'The Valentines' back announce Axiom. By the way, up until July 2010 our Adelaide radio sales team was temporarily working in 'the old church', during renovations at MIX & Cruise ! Regards, IAN in Victor Harbor
this song was in my mind for a months before my baby girl was born ,the strange thing was i never know what the words mean. Im hungarien ,but i got it .
I love my little ray of sunshine even she is 18 now ,love you for ever ILDIKO.,
@indyfan1958 I was just listening to this as my dad ( Ray ) used to sing this song to me as I was his Little Ray of Sunshine. So sad to read your post, my thoughts & prayers are with you & your family <3
@indyfan1958 Im so sorry to hear that your daughter is fighting cancer. My heart goes out to you! So many people win the battle with cancer. It is not the death sentence it was years ago!! Not at all!! There are many alternative therapies out there to help strengthen the body in such a time. I have some natural therapists in the family if you want some advice. Take care. :)
What a beautiful song! I was only 3 when this song came out but I always think of my daughter (don't we all!) who is now nearly 19. An awesome young woman but perennially my baby girl! Love you Sarina! :)

@0591579 Glenn Shorrock was lead singer for both bands and Brian Cadd produced a lot of Aussie bands in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Often the boys would play together at the Roxy or Golden Gate pubs in South Melbourne. On these nights it was hard to know who was from where or when but regardless they were brilliant. Geoff Cox usually managed to be there for these occasions sprouting how he was Little river bands drummer. Truth the drummer broke an arm so coxy filled in to complete a tour.
I use to sing this at 2am in the morning when my girls couldn't sleep - loved the irony of "Little Ray of Sunshine" when its dark outside and all you want to do is sleep!! Amazing to see the guys way back then - Brian Cadd hasn't changed his hairstyle!!
I'm the daughter of an ex R.A.A.F serviceman. the base where he was stationed at the time of my birth, they would play this song over the radio whenever a daughter was born to a serviceman. Nice little gesture don't you think :-)
Those were the days, Brian Cadd with black hair, Glenn Shorrock with hair, I think anyone with a baby girl at that time claimed this terrific track for their own, I know I did.
i have searched and searched for this original version...and feeling sentimental on my birthday i decided to search again and to my delight....here it is....what a wonderful b'day pressie...wish my dad was still here to share this gem with me... :)
I remember first hearing this gem of a song on GTK on the ABC just before Bellbird. It must have been in 1970. A great song and Glen Shorrock and Brian Cadd terrific singers.
