Listen to the bass on the MK1 recordings. No way Roger Glover is superior to Nick Simper. MkII will forever be known for Smoke on the Water, big deal! Purple have done better.
zur hypermotorik des sängers könnten fetzige stones-cover gut passen. deep purple waren zur emeretta-zeit nicht so zappelig. aber dafür bleibt er hier vielleicht länger schlank.
I feel sorry for Simper. He's a bitter burnout who acts like he was just fine being dumped for the vastly superior Glover, but he's not. He knows he is the ex wife that missed the gravy train. Nice sound, but this is pure DP trivia on steroids.
BTW...I mixed sound for Rod Evans bogus DP in 1980. OMG., bad doesn't begin to describe THAT.
Excellent, superb, wonderful! This Deep Purple Mk.1 classic is up there with Speed King and Burn. Great version here. Nick Simper was one of the founders of heavy rock as we know it. Thank you!
hey nick simper that's great after almost 40 years after he still remembers those early days with this song he just tells us how great was to be in deep purple back then in 68 and 69 man if my eyes will ever see rod evans and simper ever back again?thanks for uploading this great video.
Very gay choreography but Emmaretta still kicks ass!
One of the most underrated DP songs ever. :)

@oberfour
Roger was more progressive wile Nick at the time was more Old fashion early 60s. It was never about better but about more progressive.
As to Nick I have lots respect and loved what he did after purple. He proved to be excellent musician.

Your profile states that you're 41. Pretty amazing, a 12 year old star sound mixer. This explains why they sounded bad.

The singer seems to have misplaced his irony meter...

Amazing to see Nick Simper, very cool. He needs to lose the boy band singer though.

lol...wow, the great Nick Simper is still going strong.
Thanks for posting this...The DP mark 1 bass lines are truly incredible, he seems like such a happy and young at heart guy.
