The lyrical part is Polaski's best and I have never seen anybody on stage who did it better. Her dramatic qualitites are always so-so. She always strikes me as a jugendlich-dramatischer soprano who wants to reach the last steps and doesn't. Conducting is really slow, I agree.
The tempo here is off...I feel like both Polaski and the orchestra are taking turns slowing it down to allow the other to catch up, but it never happens...boooooooooring when done like this, it zaps all dramatic tension out the scene. Marton is a way better Elektra.
Let me correct you. Eva Marton WAS there as Klytamnestra. Powerful performance of all the artists. Madame Polaski was specially BRILLIANT in the tittle role.
