Yes David died, in January 1990, and he died of cancer I think.

Maria is still a cast member as well and she has a daughter on the show but Im unaware if it's her child in real life. Mr. Hoopers store is still names Hoopers Store and run by a character names Allan.

No, the episode premiere of that season was the one where Gordon and Snuffy (separately) ran the marathon. The episode where Big Bird learned about Mr. Hooper's death was three episodes later.

I live in The Netherlands, so i don´t know every actor´s name, but i think Northern was David, the first person that sings in this video. Died in 1990 i thought. R.I.P. Anyway, this is still a great song.
