oh yes, I can see it now, so the wait of the chains only come in to play at the very end towards the lockout. Great stuff, thanks a lot for explaining that!
would you mind explaining what the chains do.... wouldn't that be the same as adding more weights, I do normal box squats but gonna try these, they definatly give me the advantage when accelerating in the game
Your body has a natural protective mechanism that slows you down as you near lockout. This teaches you bad habits...imagine your body decellerating at the joints when you sprint in a game!
Chains and bands "over ride" this. They allow you to, and force you to speed up all the way through the movement.
Plus, they add weight to your strongest points. Take the squat. Let's say you can do 400lbs. Well, you're strong
enough to squat 400 at the bottom but you could probably do 500 in the 1/4 squat.
Well, using bar weight only undertrains you where you're strong. If you have 300 on the bar plus 100 of chains, at the bottom you'll have 300. But, as you raise up, more chain comes off the floor, adding weight to the bar. At the top, you'l habe 400lbs.
I love these things! Wish I knew about them 12 years ago when I played high school football. Would have helped.
