@hdf503 I don't have any proof of that, because I wasn't the owner when it did turn 1 million, I was told it had done 1,2 million kilometers, and I belive that by the state of the car and how worn the engine and drivetrain is, thats true. And it's very normal that old mercedes taxis like this one has done over 1million KM. Some have passed 2million and are still going!

@hdf503 there are no 200,000 driven 300D's that idle roughly :P moreover, there are probably no W123 Diesels that haven't been driven for at least half a million km's. as you probably can feel, the car seems quite worn (though it'll still have many hundreds of thousands left to serve) :)

@joshster89 A car like this one with 237,000KM would look and run like a new car, this one was very worn, the engine used oil and water, and it had a little knock, the tranny made bad noises, rear differensial had tons of slack and the rest of the car was worn. I have seen many of these cars with 400-800,000KM and none was nearly as worn as this one. You can see the smoke and hear the injector knocking in the video, the rest you'll have to trust me on.

@kiarra00 really nice MERC TD.. you have there W123 the last really. solid mercedes.. i have one just like it in metalic blue 300TD with aut trans but mine has never been a cab so it have only done 593.700km and it still runs like new. Ii will make a video of mine running just too prove your point with joshster89 i you know these cars you can hear the diffence... one the island i live on there is a 123 TD exdended version 1 owner cab it`s at 1.6 million km now no rebuild .

@joshster89 Today that mercedes can't have only 237 000KM only. Many of them were used as a taxi. Diesel cars are always making longer distances. This car is just too old and too "error-free". Anyway this engine with 237 000 KM will never let so much oil smoke. :D It's just indestructible ;p

Awesome. I like the 5-cylinder and manual tranny! The wife's 1980 240D has a 4-speed, but too bad they didn't sell the manual in the U.S. 300D. Sure would be fun to have one! My 1984 300SD is at 680,000 miles now, and looks and drives like a dream. Tranny was replaced a year ago, but the engine has never been touched. Still driven daily! Best engine ever built; I like the W123 body cars, but prefer the W126 myself. To each his own; both are wonderful machines!

Did you get the 250K and 500K mile emblems? Merc awards them for that and I think they keep on your record so when you reach the million mile mark, you'll be certified.

you can see the quality on the door mechanism, they are really cool.

pretty slow cars, but rock solid road handling, there is no way to make them brake out.

i hated y boss and there was no way to brake them.

if you remove the fake leather on the gear knob, the mechanism you'll see it looks like it was made in the future.

The knock sound you can hear when I revved it up a little is just injector knock. It doesn't do that when warm.
