I am still confused as to how you choose the modulo because if you have a-b=10 would the modulo be 10 or 5 or 2? I don't understand how you choose which one
@JPnumber1 Typically for these problems, the modulus is given. So, you shouldn't have to actually pick one. Answers that you get will depend on the modulus.
im confused 4 and 5 has gcd of 1 and 1 divides 3,, so i thought the solution is only 1 and that is x= 2.... am i getting it wrong .. ? thanks

Doesn't really help for problems such as;
17x - 5 = 0 (mod 211)

x = 5k + 2, where k is any non-negative integer.
Some professors ask for the equation.
