DSG is an automatic tranny. I dont care about your fastest shifts or whatever else you have to argue. If you want to enjoy driving your car and having full control over it, only a manual will let you do that. Any monkey can press the shift button when the light on the dash tells you too.
@ozzker91 there is no light if u dont shift ur jus gunna rev the shit outta ur car....gotta have a ear and know the best point to shift for maxium power= JUS LIKE MANUAL...oh my phone is ringing pop it back to automatic I LOVE IT....vDUBS FTW ALL DAY
@LilNug were both stock....cause if so jus let ur buddies hit the pipe......200 hp 207 lbs vs like 173hp173lbs and 2 other people with more miles on ur motor.......hmmmmmmmmmm YOU COULD SELL MANEUR 4 A LIVING BUT im not buy that shit
far from it, dsg is paddle shifting it is just like manual it uses a double clutch...pretty much its the fastest shifting possible between gears, the only thing is that you do have the option to just put it in automatic if you would like so really you have both worlds manual and auto on tap at anytime
totally right, just got my GLI and the tap shifter is just remarkable, i used to hate auto transmission but the engineering on the tap shifter is just amazing, and FUN!
I'd have to say the GTI must've been a VR6, or a chipped 1.8t at least. I had a 1.8t before the '06 GTI MKV I have now, 1.8t's hit peak torque mad early. If that was the 1.8t, it would have to be chipped at the least to keep up with the GLI, that or a really good driver. I raced my friend's stock GTI 1.8t with my stock GTI 2.0T a few days ago and pulled 2 car lengths on him easy, and he drives stick and I drive DSG.
what do you mean its probably a 24v? mk4's only came with a 24v vr6. And why would they do a mk3 12v swap in a mk4 gti. duuhhhhh. thats retarded. We have a GLI Fahrenheit with the 6 speed stick trans. pushing 500hp. Seth here in vegas
It was a vr6.
source: I was driving the GLI.

Yup definetly a vr6 that sound is iconic

I argue that has a lot to the driver, because I with my bora SPORT won him many GTI, GLI, and CUPRA and once a MUSTANG GT 05

The VR6 is faster than the mk5 2.0, cause i beat the GLi Fahrenheit in my mk3 GLX with 2 other people in it

its gotta be a 1.8t to get off that well. the gli has a 2.0t, i believe.

@cotucker that's for sure a VR6, I can tell by the sound it makes. It's probably a 24V depending on what year it is.
