@MrDontSmokeKids french grip is how you get the fast single stroke rolls. the really fast blasts on the snare are called gravity blasts or fulcrum blasts. basically, you pivot the the stick using the rim as a lever and you end up getting two notes per stroke. it's a pretty cool technique.
