  • Marvin was one of my father's favorite singers. Just listening to him as I think about my dad who's been gone for a little over a year now. He always played Marvin on cleaning days and whenever he was out on a drive. I can still see him rolling up in his Caddy blasting this song! I will be forever greatful to him and my mother for exposing us to the music of their time! RIP dad and RIP Marvin

  • Isn't mankind's technological advancement wonderful.

  • This song is groovin man! Long live the 70s and Marvin Gaye! Dig it?!

  • Not to belittle the talents of Adele or Bruno Mars or so on, but this feels a lot more significant and is more memorable than what I hear on the radio.

  • This song gives me the chills.

  • The Truth behind the Music....Marvin Gaye Lives in ALL of us....Powerful with Greatness. Thanks for posting.

  • this man was so brilliant!

  • He's saying things weren't what they used to be back then in the 70's, imagine what he would say now...Today. The world has gotten 100X worse.

  • Is this the video they made after he died? Or is it just a video?

  • *Nothing* else on the radio sounded like this when it came out.

  • People think this song was made some 40 plus years ago and listen attentively to the lyrics. The man was speaking prophetically about the misuse, abuse and carelessness of what was occurring in the world the, Well, for a fact these things are still occurring today but at a more rapid deterioration. People then cared about one another somewhat, but now discern the times for yourself. The world is destined to get worse, but we individually can make a difference. We are THE HUMAN RACE people-WAKEUP

  • @truth1disciple No, you're wrong. Leopards can't change their spots, and humans can't change their nature. No matter what political leaning, what philosophy, what colour you are... humans always fail in some way, and then when you multiply those failures by the billions of people on earth, you end up with the world we live in.

  • @truth1disciple If you believe in God, He wiil to help the peolples to survive a war, but we can't to make too. God to Blend the peoples.

  • бесподобная композиция, одна из самых любимых...

  • great!

  • Mercy, mercy me, what an unbelievable voice and song!

  • Have always loved it!

  • God,what a contribution to our lives...uplifting, comes to mind...what an absolute waste for our lives...diminishing,comes to mind!

  • megalomaniaxx.blogspot.com

  • this takes me back to Sunday afternoon drives in ths old country squire station wagon love it!

  • What's this socialist crap? Let the world and nature take care of itself and get the fuck out of the way. Straighten yourself out and then all will be fine

  • @FlawlessCock you are scum

  • @HearWithoutPrejudice Nature is self-evident and self-regulating. It is clearly you who are polluting it with your poisonous care. You are a rat.

  • perhaps one of the best popular (mainstream) songs ever recorded in American history.

  • something just so beautiful and amazing about Marvin Gaye's music.

  • i up in a small town in arkansas let'z just say there was a lot of tension about people!!!my uncle left me his short wave radio a zeneth and i could pickup WGN in the north chicago,i 'd go to school singing these songs.got in a lot of trouble with my friends till they started coming over and listning toooo great music

  • THAT IS BEAUTIFUL ... THE SAX IS SO SEXY

  • Makes me sad people don't see what they're doing to the planet. It'll keep getting worse. D:

  • They don't make songs like this anymore! Such a wonderful voice.

  • Sad to know that it took Tammi's passing to inspire such a great work from Marvin, but it is much appreciated. RIP MG (and TT).

  • then and now ?

  • There should be more music like this today!

  • URGENT/IMPORTANT, READ THE MESSAGE IN MY PROFILE...

  • i think this is his best song

  • LMAO @ the visuals, looks like a ghetto soap opera intro.

    Still love the song!

  • Beautiful.

  • I like how one of Marvin's songs is"What's Going On," and the other is "Let's Get it On," Hmmmmm.....

  • Things are slow to change.

  • That's a nice thought!

  • @Washlch1 Have I ever heard the song?? Are you kidding me? Yes, you've made my point quite clear... it's very obvious what he's singing about... I don't need a silly melodramatic video from the 80's or 90's or whenever this is from to drive the point home. I'd rather just see live video/footage of Marvin singing it in the 70's as that would have been a much more contextualy appropraite setting (and subtle) for such a lovely song.

  • This song doesn't need this stupid-ass video. Ugh for the melodramatic visual accompaniment.

  • @aminorforestrock have you ever actually listened to this song? all the vidoe does is show literally EXACTLY whats hes saying...

  • Man of vision....

  • 86 Dislikes????WTF!!!!!!

  • yep

  • we did this to our world, its up to us to change it. But lets be honest, who gives a shit anymore? with all this technology, no-ones opening their eyes. OPEN UR EYES!

  • i love dis

  • Such a beautiful song. Why do the most talented always die too soon?

  • the ending always gave me the chills

  • Bob Babbitt on bass.

  • @luffykens: irregardless of time, nationality in this time of the millennium age, this song can exist in any 'trend' and still good as gold and love it all the same. his music transcends hours, months or decades! marvin's a genius

  • god bless you marvin!! you truly made me a very happy man to hear your silky soft smooth voice chiming out such beautiful songs, imma real angry at your daddy for doin what he did to you!! but i forgive him as i am sure you already have! long live your memory marvin the magic soul brotha!! PEACE

  • love this jam!!!!!

  • 0:35 dolphins....David Bowie -_-

  • His best song...wow

  • im sad living today the music sucks they talk just crap.

  • i want cry

  • Look! The xylophone is stored in this man's head! He touches his head and the xylophone sounds at 1:53.

  • is sublime and charming..

  • Marvin Gay was, and allways a true ledgend to all man kind!

  • .... and the ONLY song this man ever got a Grammy for was "Sexual Healing" ?!!!! -WTF !!!

  • @rickw1100 I agree, this song and what's goin on. Wow.

  • @rickw1100

The fact it was only one Grammy is crazy. That is the music 'business', thankfully not the MUSIC itself. Hasn't stopped me from appreciating it.

  • @rickw1100 unbelivable isn't it....Screw them, I have Marivn's music forever.

  • this song still is making listeners think of what theyve done to the envt.

  • So many years later, this video is still fucking epic!

    We miss you, Marvin!!!

  • AMO!!!

  • my God this great man was an artist and, as is all too evident, a prophet as well.

    Miss you, Marvin.

  • barry white, luther van dross and marvyn what a hell of a choir in heaven god bless them. Music is Memories Peace Out xx

  • grande musica pra se recordar bons tempos

  • @TheClam88 Are you sure? I thought Motown released it on the Tamla Records label in June 1971 as Tamla 54207

  • Anybody notice Wild Bill Moore's saxophone solo on this song? This was released in June 1971 on Motown's Tamla Records label(Tamla 54207)

  • You assholes made Marvin Gaye cry! You should be ashamed!

  • We've now reached seven billion and counting. Can't say we weren't warned decades ago. Miss you Marvin....

  • ~ / ~

  • There should be a biiiigggg movement of soul.

    Rerevolution baby.

  • What's Bowie doing

  • Thank you

  • This was the time of movements, unity and togetherness. Regardless of what we were going through we still had each other to depend on. Everything that the people fought for, protest to advance the future of our youth have almost been wiped away by the ignorance on parade that disguised itself as knowledge and keeping it real by uplifting poverty. WOW! forgive us people of the 50's and 60's and please forgive us God!....

  • @TheKingdom3462 And that's what Marvin Gaye was singing about in this song from 1971

  • "I don't make records for pleasure. I did when I was a younger artist, but I don't today. I record so that I can feed people what they need, what they feel. Hopefully, I record so that I can help someone overcome a bad time." Marvin Gaye 1982.

Wishing he was still hear to guide the youth and help this country persevere through its economic hardships. RIP Marvin Gaye!

  • Man was that NEW EDITION members being shown

  • This song just reminds me how SHIT the human race in fact is :'(

  • how could you dislike this, i'm 17 and there is nothing that can top marvin. ever.

  • this song is adorable

  • @ PuffSmelly...the only fucking joke is you....but glad you took time off from sucking Bieber's cock to given Marvin a listen

  • 83 are so dummy..... they know no nothing about mother nature.......

  • Another #1 hit for Marvin Gaye on the Rhythm & Blues charts. This was the 231st #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #4 on the Top 40 charts.

  • This song is a classic... but that sax solo has to be the worst solo in history ... dude sounded like he has a kazoo in his horn

  • I love this song, and the very last clip to this vid where the rain drop causes a pink rose to bloom through the cracks within hardened cement we place over her nature. Beauty always has a way of piercing through, even through darkened times. That rose that blooms says to me "hope always resides within. Hope always lives... even in despair, it never gives up"... Raindrops are like mother natures tear drops. Beauty only comes from her, even when we build walls against her. A mother's true love.

  • @ZaheedaNaheedya

  • Marvin Gaye -- how I miss that man's music. He said "If you can't find peace within yourself, you'll never find it anywhere." Powerful words. So many of his songs are timeless classics that will live on forever.

  • There will never be another Marvin Gaye, he was a king in his own right the music he made had such soul in it, the passion he brung to his music.

  • And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. Genesis 6:5,6

    Walker?

  • Comment removed

  • Things are definitely NOT what they use to be and never will be again :(

  • Why do Young One's, wish they were born Twenty years ago? Another fad. ALL Generations lock it down with purpose, love, and respect. Marvin!

  • The only reason why I remember this song is because I saw a cat get hit by a car when I was riding down the street playing this song in my car :(
