I recently purchased a midi cable for my casio 630.I tried to hook it up to garage band to know avail although I was advised that this would work.do you have any suggestions for software that would work with my mack and suzuki omnichord? is there any freeware that you could recommend?
Olá. I have one but I dont know how to use the midi function could you help me? By the way you play well but how did you get that super sound my dont have such quality in guitar. Thanks.
This sound is not from that old keyboard, but from external instrument. I have just pluged this Casio to computer via MIDI interface. It is quite simply: you only need to have some sound generator (like software or hardware synthesizer for example), MIDI cable for connection and you have to turn off local sound (the original Casio sound) - it is now used only as data entry device ;)
As you obiously know, playing technique depends a lot on the keyboard you use, the kind of music, the timbre of instrument and of course your moood. In this video I used an old keyboard with very poor keys. In fact, playing normally, like in a standard piano, is simply uncomfortable here. It is better to hit the keys, like slapping strings.
Your using the M-AUDIO USB TO MIDI Uno thing ? I have one of those too I use it with my CASIO CTK 601 and it works GREAT! Most new keyboards now have built-in USB MIDI !
I am using E-MU Xmidi 1x1, which is quite similar to your interface. And I have also a digital piano and it has a built-in usb midi, but no "normal" midi connector unfortunately.
Thank you. I have used FM8 there. Unfortunately I don't have Vsampler. But recently I bought a new pedal keyboard, so I stopped using my old Casio as a midi controller (I have only one-port midi-usb interface). I'm going to post some new video with it, but first I have to practice playing it more properly.
Initially i think.. wow this is old and probably not so good.. then..... Eargaam... Im blown away.. rocking out

... and if you using Vsampler3, j have one great Roland XP30 distorsion sample, j can send you if you are interested.
speedfinger63 3 years ago
great job man! witch software you use? J use old casio too as MIDI controler and work mostly with FM8 and Vsampler.
speedfinger63 3 years ago
Thanks. Yes, it is a PC software. I just connected my casio to PC using a midi-usb interface and that's it.
Paastj 3 years ago
Thanks. Yes, you're right, I used it as a midi controller. That Casio itself would never produce that sound.

is that the actual sound of the casio or is there a midi proccessor? good guitar solo :)
