I remember the day he died... I was real little, and I went into my mom's room and she was listening to Dan's music. I didn't know what was going on, but I remember listening to this song and crying her eyes out. about 2 years later, my mom told me what happened. Every time I hear this song, I think of my mom. I re-discovered this gem listening to a 1984 recording of KGGI FM, California. Song writing at its simple best...and Dan's vocals gives it a soothing harmony. Today's music charts may no longer have time for Dan but his recordings will forever remain a testimony of that great musician who unfortunately succumbed to prostrate cancer in 2005

My uncle played this song for us this weekend. He is such a gentle spirit. He has such a simple faith and loving heart. I kinda wanna be like him. The earth could quake, and the sky could split in two and all sorts of calamity could hit and he would just calmly say "We are going to have faith, pray, and trust God." At 49 soon, Dan's music sure impacted my late teens and 20's, yet even more I think today as I learn to appreciate him. I remember spending all day on You tube the day he passed listening and crying a river. I'm a military vet but how can you be human and not well with tears upon hearing of his passing then listening to these songs? It's been 2.5 years and I find myself doing this again after hearing Longer over the airwaves on my way home tonight..

I used to love hearing this song when I was a kid, but I just 'discovered' this song early this year after doing a search of the lyrics. I read alittle about Dan on Wikipedia and he seems like a person who was in touch with both is outer self as well as his inner spirituality. Wow, just happened to type in this song cuz its been years since ive this. It really hits home now since my lady and I are trying to hold on to this amazing thing weve had for over 2 years now. I dont know what tomorrow has in store for us but I do know Cindy ur all I want and need. Dan thanx for a truly touching song!

My uncle played this song for us this weekend. He is such a gentle spirit. He has such a simple faith and loving heart. I kinda wanna be like him. The earth could quake, and the sky could split in two and all sorts of calamity could hit and he would just calmly say "We are going to have faith, pray, and trust God." There is something comforting about people like that!

I used to sit and listen to this song while I rocked my firstborn daughter. I still cry every time I hear it. It has become my love song to her. She grew up to be an awesome beautiful woman inside and out! Thank you Dan!

This video tribute was so nicely done. I am only sorry that I didn't realize what a true talent Dan was until after his passing. I remember his name and his songs from my high school days, but just didn't really realize how awesome his musical talent was until just recently. Thanks so much for this great tribute and a special thank you to Jean for allowing us all a small look into Dan's life and your last few years together. Dan is greatly missed, that's for sure!!!

I married a musician in the late 70's. In the good days we would sing and laugh and play guitars. These songs all make me cry. I guess I'm sad for the loss of my 20's and how stupid I acted back then. I'm sorry Michael.

i know this is a love song in the love song sense... but my daughter who is 9 left for school this morning and looked at her baby brother who is 4 months old and said.. "i love you like the sun loves a mountain".. i truely dont think ive ever heard anything more beautiful...made me think of this song...

Thank you again Bill. One of Dan's oh so beautiful love songs with yet another beautiful video by you. Jean is so sharing; the more I read that she's written & listened to in an interview with her, she's an amazing woman. She would have to be, as, finally, thankfully!, Dan found his True Love when he found Jean. So interesting & so moving to me to know what 0.55 is. What a love Dan describes in "Longer". All I can convey in words is "Sheer Perfection". Absolutely Beautiful~Absolutely Perfect.

His tone ... clear, crisp, beautiful .... like a beautiful fall morning .... Before seeing Dan in concert I had never seen a professional singer perform LIVE and sound BETTER than on a recording. He had an AMAZING gift and is seriously missed!

Thank you so much for posting this. I was fortunate enough to see Dan in concert on a few occassions .... and always is small, intimate theaters .... Of the many many concerts I've been to in my life, Dan's voice was like no other!!! It was filled with an energy that filled the room with love.

At 49 soon, Dan's music sure impacted my late teens and 20's, yet even more I think today as I learn to appreciate him. I remember spending all day on You tube the day he passed listening and crying a river. I'm a military vet but how can you be human and not well with tears upon hearing of his passing then listening to these songs? It's been 2.5 years and I find myself doing this again after hearing Longer over the airwaves on my way home tonight..

I used to love hearing this song when I was a kid, but I just 'discovered' this song early this year after doing a search of the lyrics. I read alittle about Dan on Wikipedia and he seems like a person who was in touch with both is outer self as well as his inner spirituality. He will be sorely missed as one of the icons of folk music.
