Hey everyone. New staff are needed at Tactical Production, We are an elite game designing, modelling, scripting, producing team and we are looking for employees from ages 10 upwards. You dont have to be an expeirienced designer, youll learn that with us. If your interested click my Youtube name on the left and send me a message.
Transparent material, you mean? The absolute easiest way is to select the polygon (or the whole shape, if you want it all transparent) and go to material editor, high righ on your screen, and set the "opacity" down, just as on Photoshop, this will make the material transparent and you will see through it.
This will not make it glassy or refracting light like real windows, but it answers your question. Try a tutorial on it, there's plenty of them.
hey do you think you can make me a tutorial how to texture objects? i mean i can adda texture, but i cant ajust it, so like when i make a brick wall, the brick is all missplaced, so if you maybe could make a tutorial where you texture a house? because you is very clear and easy to understand, not like others tutorial ;)
If your model is box-based, select the box, then add the modifier 'UVW MAP" and change the gizmo to 'box' instead of 'planar'. You can even change the size and placement of the gizmo.
Much, much more advanced would be uvw unwrapping, which you won't need on a this stage.
3ds max has been around for a long time now. The newest version is gonna be '3ds max 2008' and should be released very soon. 3ds max 9 has been out for while now. It costs about $3,600.00 US dollars. 3ds max is EXTREMELY powerful! It takes years to master it! A lot of pro's also use Mudbox and Zbrush. These programs help make high poly models with ease. Then you can bake a normal map and use it in max. makes high quality animations faster.
I agree. Studio max is here for quiet sometime and not only that - when you learn it, you get a good idea of using other 3d softwares and be able to import into diverse softwares. So in future you'd be using another software and then use studio max for what it's good at and other softwares. Never too late to learn studio max. Definitley good time to learn because it gives knowledge to use other 3d software too.
You said that game companies are looking for people that can edit easily and quickly. But the problem is: if you want to create a véry nice model, then you must make it 'complicated' right? Or you must be a good professional.
Max has tools for creating the illusion of modeling without actually building geometry; bump maps, normal maps, and just shades of color (that's how painters work for 3D effects) can make you think there is something there.
All indications are that Max is remaining with continued development by Autodesk. They also now own Maya but people tell me the two products do serve differing users.
From Ted. Don is right, Max should be around for quite a while, so this would be a good time for you to start learning. It's pretty complex software, so be sure to get the fundamentals down before trying the "cool stuff" . What companies are looking for is people who create efficient models that can be edited easily and quickly. Search the internet for a program called Gmax; it's a free version of 3ds Max that is used to create scenes for some games and has many of the tools.
Hi. Thank you very much. But I have ordered the fully legal 3DSMax software. Thank you for this brilliant tutorial. I'm going to check more on your website.

What's the ease of showing video of somethin' thats available for 10 years at google?
This won't help U to understand faster or better if U don't have the power to withstand.
There are more comlicated things that I can't even master. It's hard to be the first.
