this is good for the environment in the fact we wouldn't need as much pulp for paper but it is also bad for it because we need to create more crude oil for plastic :( comment on your thoughts of this.
Also, they did this because Canadian currency was the most counterfeited of the G20 countries and businesses were no longer accepting $100 bills. It's really difficult to counterfeit polymer notes, especially the clear bit.

Only the $100 bills have yet been issued, I have had a few now, and they do not feel like money in my pocket. they feel more like receipt paper. That's not going to be very helpful for a blind person after the braille gets flattened from over use.
polymer is not plastic. Plastic breaks. Polymer is usually used for doors and what not on a lot of cars. The kind that shopping carts can bounce off of. It's like calling diamond glass dude.
In 1990, Singapore already issued a polymer $50 bill. By 2004, it had its first circulating $10 banknote, then followed by $2 issue in 2006. I remember when we changed our money in the late 1980s a Texan came into the restaurant i was working at with quite the attitutude, combative and very aggressive. When he got to my cashier station, he chewed me out because he gave me an american $20 and I had to give him back change. He called me a liar even though I showed him the money in the cash register. he thought it was play money. I had to get a manager and she convinced him it was real.

I live in Calgary, Alberta and i find the new $100 crease in the middle and they do not flatten back. I am not fully sure if I like the new bills. Its also harder to count by hand and banks now have to buy new machines to count the currency and its only the $100 bills made of plastics. The $50 will come soon following after the $20, $10 and $5.

Only the $100 bills have yet been issued, I have had a few now, and they do not feel like money in my pocket. they feel more like receipt paper. That's not going to be very helpful for a blind person after the braille gets flattened from over use.

In 1990, Singapore already issued a polymer $50 bill. By 2004, it had its first circulating $10 banknote, then followed by $2 issue in 2006. The $5 and $20 polymer banknotes were issued in 2007, having fully replaced paper money by that year. It's funny how slow North America is and how secluded they are from the rest of the world. I'm Canadian btw lol

I live in Canada too, but I have not yet seen the new plastic money. They say the plastic $20 bills are suppost to come in April I think. So I'm looking forward to that.

I agree with future money must be all digital, you only show them a card. :)This is also better than any value money--made by whatever material, paper, plastic, iron, copper, whatever you guess before we used, or even gold or sliver, for your own security be robbed by having them in cash machine or your valet. :) Saw a news , even a convenience store was attacked by a big truck to crash wall, then take the whole cash register away with coins and money.:) Make it as empty or nothing as we can,

I remember when we changed our money in the late 1980s a Texan came into the restaurant i was working at with quite the attitutude, combative and very aggressive. When he got to my cashier station, he chewed me out because he gave me an american $20 and I had to give him back change. He called me a liar even though I showed him the money in the cash register. he thought it was play money. I had to get a manager and she convinced him it was real.

USA -- Paper money. For me personally, plastic money would be difficult to get used to, mostly because I love the paper-canvas feel of fresh bills.
Perhaps they could give the plastic the same texture? That would smooth the transition.

I live in Calgary, Alberta and i find the new $100 crease in the middle and they do not flatten back. I am not fully sure if I like the new bills. Its also harder to count by hand and banks now have to buy new machines to count the currency and its only the $100 bills made of plastics. The $50 will come soon following after the $20, $10 and $5.
