as far as the sec and ou lol trust me the sec wanted no part of ou. oklahoma tradition is domination in every conference ou has been affiliated with. the sec wouldve been nothing different.
ou was talking with the pac 10 as well. doesnt matter ou will eventually go to its own sportsnetwork like notre dame, byu, and now texas.
@flwhrtrb SEC wishes to have no part of any team with substance. As long as the SEC can continue playing their cupcakes out of conference schedule the rest of the country does not stand a chance of playing in the BCS title game.
thats what is great about being a sooner fan. ou tradition is about lining it up with anyone that wants some period....no excuses.
ou tradition is built against the OTHER top 10 traditions all time while all sec programs traditions are built playing the 1aa programs.
ou has played 221 games against the other top 10 all time programs which is tied for 5th all time with northwestern and by far the most of any top 10 traditions. notre dame 189 (2nd of the top 10) ranks 13th all time.
one trick pony boise st? is that the same boise st program who about 6 months ago called out alabama nationally and 6 months later we see what we have known all along.....alabama lacks the manhood to do anything about it.
you have never seen the day and will never live long enough to witness anyone calling ou out nationally and ou running scared....ever.
like boise st claims alabama will pay san jose st 1.3 mil for a game at alabama but wont pay boise st 1 mil for a game at alabama...lmfao
to the illiterate sec fans who obviously dont know anything about football. want to talk sec domination? heres your domination mouthpieces so suck on this fact.
no current sec program has won in norman since 1919. arkansas defeated ou in norman in 1919. 14 years before the sec was formed and 70 years before arkansas joined the cupcake league.
ou has more tradition than any sec program period.....anyone who thinks different email me at cfbouexpert@cox.net and ill educate you to the facts.
@flwhrtrb Cupcake league???? The old Big 2 and Weak 6 league says don't forget where you came from. There were high school teams in the SEC that could've gone .500 in a conference with Iowa St. Kansas, Kans. State from the 70-80's.
?KILLED by Florida? What game were you watching? Final score was 24-14, but Florida needed a key goal line stop and several bounces of the ball to make the margin that wide. It was a great college game, and if those two teams played ten times, Florida would win about 6.
@SenorDali Oklahoma 1971 best triple option offense ever. Jack Mildren to this day 39 years later still the best triple option QB to ever play the game. To score 31 points againist that Nebraska team with Rich Glover was just amazing.
@SenorDali OK should be ashamed, they can't even beat a one trick pony like boise state but you want to ack big with SEC teams. Get real. It was a big rumor this summer during all this conference expansion BS that OK wanted to join the SEC. I'm sure commissioner slive just pleasantly declined to answer the call as the sooners quite honestly just aren't good enough to be in our league.
@soonerscott2007 Well, we got to the big one in 2010. Where was OU? Sitting at home on their asses with the 115 other teams that wished they were in the big one. At least we won our game!
This Sugar Bowl was the first one to be played on the then-new Astroturf surface at Tulane Stadium, replacing the previous grass surface that was difficult to maintain due to the unpredictable Louisiana weather and the summer thunderstorms.
We were humbled in this game. OU whipped our Heisman winner Pat Sullivan and a pretty good Auburn team 40-22. We've been waiting almost 40 years to play em again. I'd love to see that.
I wonder why they don't run the wish bone anymore. The FB pundits (whoever they are) say the defenses are too quick today. It was an exciting offense to run back then. Very quick offensive scheme.
The 46 defense (Buddy Ryan defense) was added to the playbook of many defenses to the stop the wishbone. Nebraska countered with the spread and everybody lining up in receiving position in the 90's but a QB has to be able to throw as well as run or he gets pounded.
I agree. I wish it would come back. I don't know why they don't run it anymore. Navy and Air Force show that it still can work. Now, get a team that has real talent and speed and they can probably make it work.

Ariamaluun-actually, triple option football is a perfect offense to run against a 46 scheme. It forces that defense to play assignment football
mechgregor 3 years ago
The single-wing as well. But a QB now has to have the ability to throw long like Michael Vick at Va Tech or Pat White with West Virginia.
Ariamaluum 3 years ago
Love to watch the triple option at work. Wish we still had it today for interesting contrast in philosophies.
