Fantastic tip on safety first, great explanation, fabulous flowers from a very creative person! Thank you so much for inspiration, clear video, and clear communication during video!
Thank you!!! I was so fascinated with your tutorial that last night I gave it a shot. Since I had no organza at hand I used some craps of the type of fabric that you use when lining something like linnen slacks. Say it is something like synthetic silk. My flores came out so beautiful!!! Thank you again!
I am totally inspired! I spent all day yesterday making these flowers, with some variations and can't thank you enough for sharing this info. I make hats and fascinators and have been trying to find out how to make voile flowers for the longest time and now, thanks to you, have mountains of them! I used to make wedding favours and found that the crystal tulle circles were perfect for this process - I can now use up all my old stock! Hubbie is happy about that too - more space in the loft!
These flowers are so beautiful, my daughter & I decided to use them in her wedding instead of real flowers. I've made corsages for all the women in the wedding, they are being used on the bridesmaids dresses, flowergirls dresses (and hair) and I've even designed a backdrop for the cake table of a tulle curtain that will have a sprinkling of these flowers. WE LOVE THEM! Thanks for the tutorial. The are easy to make and so beautiful! We know they will be a big eye catcher at the wedding!
Thank you so much for sharing this with me! It really means a lot to me. Sounds like the wedding will be absolutely gorgeous! Your daughter is so lucky to have an artistic momma like you! Best wishes!
@BethanyKartchner Thank you! The colors I used were aqua blue and yellow, and a combination of organza and chiffon. I had to use the two different fabrics to get the right colors we needed. My daughter's wedding dress happened to have similar white flowers on it, and these fell right into place with it! I also made a ringbearers pillow of burlap, and it has one large all white organza flower in the middle & I put white feathers around it. It's gorgeous! These flowers are so versatile!
Oh my goodness, I'm in love! Do you have a blog? Will you post pics? Maybe you could email me pics, if you have a chance. I'd love to see the results. Sounds just breathtaking!
I use tulle a lot for my granddaughter and I'm going to try that (I saw the white one at the end of your tutorial) so she can have matching flowers on her tutus, skirts etc... Thanks for the WONDERFUL ideas I can't wait to get started!!
Hello bethany I loved your video's,I went ahead tried it out your right they are beautiful. Although it does take some practice with the melting part. You mentioned about using them on your brother's wedding for sash. Do you have pic's for ideas. Thanks alot for your amazing step by step video's. Chow!
Yes, I do. Check out by blog. I can't include a link here, but if you go to my blog and search under Project Completed you should be able to find them. (Sept 15, 2010)
I made flowers with black satin and layered it with a black organza with velvet polka dots. Used a rhinestone brad for the center. It came out amazing!
Kathy, rather than using an open flame, you can use a heat gun to melt the fabric. It's safer, and you can really control how much and where you burn by manipulating the gun.
You know, I don't think I've tried melting satin, but it is made out of rayon, polyester and acetate which are all man made so it might work? If you try it, make sure you do so in your sink so you can put out the fire if it doesn't. And let me know, I'm totally curious!
@SuchaCaligrrl I have had success with satin ribbon. Burning the edges to prevent it from unraveling works wonders...only take a quick pass through the flame.
I really love these flowers! I tried your technique and made some of my own. I used a satin like fabric and I really like how they turned out. Thank you so much for sharing!!!! ~Esterlyn
I have been making these myself! It is fun and pretty easy. I've used bigger sized fancy brads on some. Other fabrics I've used are: silk, poly and rayon. Some I melt, some I pink...so many possibilities.
Your time is near. Hopefully, you're feeling OK and the birth is smooth as silk!

A close cousin to organza is chiffon, is that what you mean? I bet that synthetic chiffon would work too.

has anyone used a heatgun to melt, is this possible?
gr81gkar 6 months ago
@gr81gkar
Yes, there are a few people who have commented about it. As long as you can balance the heat gun and the petals you should be fine.

Can you use hot glue.
pantojay21 8 months ago
@pantojay21
I'm not sure I would simply because it is so hot that it would probably melt the organza.
