i don't get it. thousands of dollars invested and still way slower than a busa. what was the point to do this? granted i estimate the 1/4 mile time to be in the low elevens. and that is using the formula with an estimated weight of 700 pounds, with a professional rider. most sport bikes would still make it eat dust in stock form. f=m(a-squared)-the bike is to heavy until you go with titanium and add 300 horse. until weight is addressed it is money wasted.

to put that much power into that bike does not make sense. because the factory did not build the bottom end to handle it. it will destroy itself in a few passes. i've seen it happen time after time. the vrod should have been the choice, it was built to handle more than the factory has given it.
Probably because the guy likes Harleys, the style of bike and riding position, the fact that his Harley will not lose 3/4 of its value in 3 years like a busa, and probably because he doesn't wan't people to think he's a speed dick getting ready to donate his organs....but don't know otherwise, I'd rather the Harley myself...

it seems people give me thumbs down on my comments here, but its the truth they can't stand hearing. so here it goes. the victory has more made in the usa parts. and the design team as well is all americans. harley can't brag about that. the only difference between a jap. bike and a harley is where they are assembled. the only harley i'd own is a vrod thats because its the only motor they have that can take a beating. the rest of them is 1970's tech. and are 2 cyclinder mopeds.
onemarktwoyou, Victory are nice looking bikes, we don't have many dealerships in the UK to be honest. Personally, I love Harleys as they feel so unique to ride and the overall feel, they are a classic bike and Harley would be stupid to completely overhaul the design and add too many modern touches as would lose the appeal. If I'm interested in 0-60 bike, in less than 3 sec, I ride my Busa, but for a chilled out cruise, I take the harley any day. For holding value, you can't beat a Harley either!

joe-i think your right. but look at the xr1200, just a sticker bike. what if the vrod motor was in that? its called a sportster, what happened to its name? come on, if they want to cruise its fine, but the vrod motor is worth the extra bucks. and should be offered in other bikes.
obviously you don't know what you are talking about. the evolution engine is basically bullet proof. My brother is as wild as they come and rides his bike like he stole it every day and has over 42000 miles on it and never any engine work other than a big bore kit when it was just broke in @ 5000 miles. I run a 103 SE race engine on a softail and run it like a dog and no problems either.
the v rod motor is a good motor people can rely on but all the power is too high in the rpm range just like all things stock from harley needs to be fine tuned. I rented one last summer just to test and I wasn't crazy about it but i'm not craxy about anything thats stock. my brother has a friend thats getting one to put a turbo on but my guess is that it will be close to the v max but not as potent.

df- i agree, but the yrod rpm range was not my complaint, it was the riding position after 20 miles. the location of the foot pegs was made more for a 5 1/2 foot tall man. and the handle bars also may need to be changed. but loved how the motor acted, mild down low, but crazy when down shifted with throttle.most 2 valve v twins have to much torque down low while in town. as when it rains or sand is on the road.i don't care for the throttle to be a on off switch. turbo that HD i'd like to ride.

For some reason i think your full of it tb, new 109rs are selling for right at 14 grand here local + tax n title, lol u can buy a used here in a shop for 7500 though with less than 2500 miles on it and a year old. i used to have a 2001 honda cbr 929rr. it was fast and looked good, but now i have a cruiser. not a harley, a kawasaki meanstreak, but i like the styling and being comfortable when i ride. it's loud, but it sounds good. i want a nighttrain because i like the all black with a trace of chrome. i don't knock harleys or crotch rockets, but it's all in what you want. busas and HDs are made with quality. why bash each other when we all risk ours lives hitting the road everyday.
if you want an 08 nighttrain of the line is about 16 grand, but this guy definatly put some mods on his bike. looks like nos (duh) and maybe some custom pipes so this one could be anywhere from 16 to 25 thousand

to put that much power into that bike does not make sense. because the factory did not build the bottom end to handle it. it will destroy itself in a few passes. i've seen it happen time after time. the vrod should have been the choice, it was built to handle more than the factory has given it.

Probably because the guy likes Harleys, the style of bike and riding position, the fact that his Harley will not lose 3/4 of its value in 3 years like a busa, and probably because he doesn't wan't people to think he's a speed dick getting ready to donate his organs....but don't know otherwise, I'd rather the Harley myself...

it seems people give me thumbs down on my comments here, but its the truth they can't stand hearing. so here it goes. the victory has more made in the usa parts. and the design team as well is all americans. harley can't brag about that. the only difference between a jap. bike and a harley is where they are assembled. the only harley i'd own is a vrod thats because its the only motor they have that can take a beating. the rest of them is 1970's tech. and are 2 cyclinder mopeds.

onemarktwoyou, Victory are nice looking bikes, we don't have many dealerships in the UK to be honest. Personally, I love Harleys as they feel so unique to ride and the overall feel, they are a classic bike and Harley would be stupid to completely overhaul the design and add too many modern touches as would lose the appeal. If I'm interested in 0-60 bike, in less than 3 sec, I ride my Busa, but for a chilled out cruise, I take the harley any day. For holding value, you can't beat a Harley either!

h4- your right. but the people viewing this video can't under stand he is killing the motor. its not meant to do this,they run them and they fly apart. its made for cruising only.if anyone has ever gone to the track and watched them break them right and left,they would get sick of watching them do this.the factory bottom ends can't take it. the vrod is something to be proud of and have fun with,thats a jap killer. vrod's motor is a beautiful design.and if harley had a brain they'd use it more.

I agree with harley needing to use the revo motor but the old timers wont buy them then. Its air cooled or nothing. The performance and Gas milage should be a reason to want the better motor but i just aint gonna happen.

joe-i think your right. but look at the xr1200, just a sticker bike. what if the vrod motor was in that? its called a sportster, what happened to its name? come on, if they want to cruise its fine, but the vrod motor is worth the extra bucks. and should be offered in other bikes.

obviously you don't know what you are talking about. the evolution engine is basically bullet proof. My brother is as wild as they come and rides his bike like he stole it every day and has over 42000 miles on it and never any engine work other than a big bore kit when it was just broke in @ 5000 miles. I run a 103 SE race engine on a softail and run it like a dog and no problems either.

the v rod motor is a good motor people can rely on but all the power is too high in the rpm range just like all things stock from harley needs to be fine tuned. I rented one last summer just to test and I wasn't crazy about it but i'm not craxy about anything thats stock. my brother has a friend thats getting one to put a turbo on but my guess is that it will be close to the v max but not as potent.

df- i agree, but the yrod rpm range was not my complaint, it was the riding position after 20 miles. the location of the foot pegs was made more for a 5 1/2 foot tall man. and the handle bars also may need to be changed. but loved how the motor acted, mild down low, but crazy when down shifted with throttle.most 2 valve v twins have to much torque down low while in town. as when it rains or sand is on the road.i don't care for the throttle to be a on off switch. turbo that HD i'd like to ride.

For some reason i think your full of it tb, new 109rs are selling for right at 14 grand here local + tax n title, lol u can buy a used here in a shop for 7500 though with less than 2500 miles on it and a year old. By my calculations thats almost a 50% loss on an investment, not a good buy if u ask me, ill keep my Harley, better buy, better investment, better built !!!!! Oh and so ya know theres a couple guys at the local strip running vrods owning some built 109Rs, just so ya know !!!

redwomp, I do not have to rev my harley up till it sounds like a chainsaw to pull a hill or pass a car, I just twist the throttle a little. 55 m p g and gobs of torque. Harley has not changed their engine designs since the 40s because they didnt need to, just a few refinements here and there......

There are only two types of bikers...People that ride beat-up harleys that complain they can't get the high price they're askin' and have to beg harley to flip their bike into the next bike for a Higher monthly payment
And people that just ride anything that hits the powerband,don't just ride on the weekends and are happy not to take out a second mortgage on a harley that always needs things.

i used to have a 2001 honda cbr 929rr. it was fast and looked good, but now i have a cruiser. not a harley, a kawasaki meanstreak, but i like the styling and being comfortable when i ride. it's loud, but it sounds good. i want a nighttrain because i like the all black with a trace of chrome. i don't knock harleys or crotch rockets, but it's all in what you want. busas and HDs are made with quality. why bash each other when we all risk ours lives hitting the road everyday.
