  • I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't wanna know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it.

  • That dude knew how to bang out a tune.

I can only sing like this if I stub my toe.

  • 

  • ♪(´ε` )ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=┌(; ̄◇ ̄)┘ ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=ε=┌(; ̄◇ ̄)┘ψ(`∇´)ψ

  • This always bring tears to my eyes. I don't know why, I can't tell if I'm sad, or happy, but this song moves me. Its so pure, and for the whole 3 minutes and 41 seconds it plays, everything feels so real.

  • Mozart was a Freemason and this is one of their songs, Andy was a banker, and no doubt a Mason, he played the song to let others know.

Mozart wrote this peace of music above a sopranos normal comfort range, its as if he is saying that people should try and reach above their normal range, which is probably another reason why Andy played in the music.

  • In work now and feeling like I need to get away from this hectic office, listening to this song makes me feel that there are more important things in life than work and I need to start living before its too late.

  • 6 people dont like pure music

  • With as much dignity as he could muster, the Old Man gathered up the sad remains of his shattered Major Award. Later that night, alone in the backyard, he buried it next to the garage. Now I could never be sure, but I thought that I heard the sound of "Taps" being played. Gently.

    Oops, wrong movie.

  • and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.

  • those 5 people who disliked this video are probably angry prision guards

  • @goPistons06 lol

  • A friend of mine an Opera Composer told me one if it was not for the classical musicians we would not know or have music in this day and time. Since telling me that I've learned to appreciate Classical Music and how it relaxes the mind and soul, thxs Charles..

  • What would you classify there voices as? Soprano, Alto, Tenor?

  • debt350...don't be so quick to judge!!! tomdylan69 only quoted the words Morgan Freeman said while Le Nozze Di Figaro were playing in the movie Shawshank Redemtion, brilliant movie, moving scene...perfectly quoted thankyou, and not a waste of space.

  • A Great film but the funny thing is that I only like two types of music.

and they are Hevy Metal and Classical belive it or not.

  • This song is one of my favorites to sing in the shower. For a visual. . . . picture a big fat guy with out stretched arms singing 240-245 sporting a soapy mow-hawk. Mozart would roll over in his grave. Sorry, I just love this song.

  • most beautiful song to accompany a most beautiful film

  • one word amazing

  • the music is beautiful and so is this song. What a rare combination of beauty.

  • I love how this song is so beautiful but is the lead is playing a trick on her husband. Mozart is quite hilarious.

  • Will for def '.. go down in history as one of the best films ever to hit the big screen because it shows to everyone everywhere, no matter what their circumstances, that that tiny little thing called 'hope' is one of the main ingredients to achieving the impossible in life...!! " get busy livin' or get busy dyin',...!!!

  • Speechless,,,,,,,,,,

  • Mummy, this makes me shiver! :)

  • mummy, im a nipple

  • One of my favorite scenes in the whole movie.

  • @semaj7891 your an idiot.full stop.get a life and stop being so narrow minded you tool!!

  • karanlık kış gecelerimi yırtıp parçalayıp beni aydınlığa ve ihtilalci bir düş ile özgürlüğe taşıyan bir eser

  • if you love music....how can you not adore mozart

  • Beautifil sounds can bring tears to the eyes, and laughter to the soul!

  • "...it was like some beautiful birds flaps into our trap little cage and makes those walls dissolved away. And for the briefest of moments, every last men in Shawshank felt free."

  • the music how beautiful!!!!!!

  • I actually once snuck to our school's speaker system and played this song throughout the school.

I was threatened with a week's suspension but several of the teachers said that it brightened up their day so i got only a week of detention.

  • @Volts48 and did u escape from the detention room by crawling through shit pipes?

  • @creazooon naw, it was a sealed off room with only one exit, teacher was in the room so I couldn't do any escaping. I just did the time and got off with a warning not to do it again.

  • @Volts48 You did a wonderful thing that day.

  • @Volts48 Yea right. although good try.

  • @Volts48 you sir is what they call an epic dude!

  • @Volts48 bullshit

  • @Volts48 Thats awesome man! Your a hero! Though how long did it last before they turned it off?...

  • @Volts48 did this movie inspire you to do it

  • @patton1000 (nod*)

  • @Volts48 nice.....if i was there i woulda done morgan freemans narration

  • @Volts48 im calling shenanigans on that one

  • @Volts48 I call BS on that, sorry.

  • Burn on you, Warden!

  • Amazing movie and great music !

  • The Countess on this recording is Gundula Janowitz whose prime was in the 60s and 70s. A glorious voice, her music is plastered all over U-Tube mostly in the German operas , Capriccio and Arabella. She also sings in Richard Strauss Four Last Songs and the Brahms Requiem. In the Requiem, the angelic voice you hear in Shawshank is on full display. Her trips to America were rare-much to my dismay.

  • beautiful

  • This was on "I Love You Phillip Morris" as well at the end! Great masterpiece!

  • debt. Do not say moron if you cannot spell soul correct, but I agree.

  • Comment removed

  • This would be better on surround sound.

  • I like this music. So gentle.

  • Probably the best use of music in a film , such a powerfull scene it moved me to tears and still does . BEST film ever made

  • fucking loved this movie soo much

    red was here

  • @Thatsgold777........So was Red

  • red was here

  • and for the briefest moment, every last man at shawshank felt free !!!!

  • Shawahank redemption is not "one of the best" films ever made,

Shawshank redemption is the best film ever made!

This Film goes more deep than any 3D movie... ;-)

I watch it about 3-4 times every year (earlier, I've do it more *s*) ,

I've watched it shurely more than 20times,

but I'm still amazed and fascinated of it.

    Absolutely masterpiece!

  • Incredible track. Incredible Film.

  • I cant help but close my eyes when I hear this....Mozart, King and Darabont ......how elegantly beautiful and inspiring. Tell me there is no God!

  • I'm afraid to inform you Salieri...there's no God.... but there is Mozart ;-)

  • @Loobs666 And who has made Mozart and give this talent to him??

    There must be a god!

I can hear GODNESS in this song and if You listen carefully enough,

    You'll also hear it!

  • @SH1974 Not necessarily....after all, The Devil does have all the best tunes... and this is deffo one of the best tunes ever!

  • Comment removed

  • i think that Shawshank Redemption is proof that Stephen King is a fantastic writer. not just a horror writer

and of course, proof that Darabont is a damn good director with good taste

  • breathtaking!!!

  • i so love this its haunting and the film is still the best..think i know it word for word now lol

  • The Shawshank Redemption was and still is simply one of Frank Darabont's all-time best films he has made. It's a shame that the film didn't win any Academy Awards it rightfully deserves. I know Forrest Gump was a huge hit, but I thought this film was AS good as Robert Zemeckis's oscar winning film. All in the cast in The Shawshank Redemption were superior. I have never seen a film so marvelous and touching enough to make a man cry. I don't think there'll ever be one like that in a long time.

  • So beautiful

  • takes me back

  • One day in science class i heard the music teacher singing this in the auditorim . Our teacher made every body shut up and listen . I almost cried it was so beutiful .

  • Mozart owns.

  • Moron, youre a poor sole who lacks intellect and good taste. This piece is a classic by Mozart and you are just simply a waste of space and not worth the sperm that created you.

  • @debt350 he was having a moment great music can do that to people you should be carefull what you wish for

  • @debt350 Well said my friend. Your comment could be used to so many crass, stupid and ignorant remarks that are made on this site.

  • @debt350 if you're replying tomdylan69, he was telling one of the quotes from morgan freeman's character in this movie.

  • @debt350 you clown, he's quoting the movie. stop acting so pompous just because you listen to classical music.

  • @debt350 you mean: you're a poor soul. Not very effective insulting someone else, when you yourself, aren't smart.

  • @pigsandsheep I agree :) well said

  • @debt350 You think he is worth something more, else you would not have taken the time to give him a piece of your mind.

  • @debt350 That was the words in the film you idiot

  • cudowne ----------- nie mogę się uwolnić od mozarta

  • cecilia bartoli!! yeahh

  • This isn't my favorite version within the context of the opera (too slow!), but the tempo is perfect for the Shawshank scene. Excellent musical choice.

  • Tanrı mazlumların yanındadır!

  • tomdylan69! well put my man, just like red! shawshank= best movie ever!

  • one of the best movies ever....The film speaks to a lot of people on some level, and its message of hope and inspiration is one that appeals to vast arrays of people......one of my favorite ones...

  • excellently put!

  • "I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. "

  • It's a great movie, a great novella and Le Nozze Di Figaro is the Opera of all Operas.

  • @tomdylan69 fact is, i DO know what those two italian ladies were singing about..

  • @wannabetyouarefat Haha true friend true... And anyone who can understand the language can... But it is still beautiful don't you agree?

  • @tomdylan69 This part of the movie and especially those words touch the heart....and makes it ache because of it :-)

Great movie and great is the music of Mozart.

  • @tomdylan69 Translated: On the breeze. What a gentle zephyr. Zephyr. Will sigh this evening. Beneath the pine grove. Beneath the pines? Beneath the pine grove. He will understand the rest. Certainly, he'll understand. He will understand the rest. Little tune on the breeze . . . etc. I dont think it sounds as beautiful in English.

  • @beastinblack thank you soooo much for the translation! Greatly appreciated

  • @beastinblack But that's part of the beauty of it! The fact you don't know gives it reason to be beautiful..

  • i agree, i love this song......................

  • One of the best movies, no doubt about it

  • Comment removed

  • heard this song from shawshank redemtion really stunning

  • Her voice is perfection!!

  • theres 2 women

  • Maria Callas' bel canto voice is indeed sublime perfection so much so that it even makes my heart ache to hear such beauty because you know everything else uttered by humans is so lowly.

  • this so beautiful.. mozart died Dec5 its also my birthday..
